    摘要: A method and apparatus for venting a mold for vulcanizing a tire is provided. The mold comprises a plurality of tread segments for forming the tread on a green tire, wherein each of said tread segments further comprises an outer cavity plate having an interior surface and an exterior surface, the cavity plate having a plurality of channels. Each of the channels has a vent hole extending from the channel to the exterior surface of the outer cavity plate, and a rib mounted over the channel. The adjoining surface of the rib mating with the interior surface of the cavity plate, wherein one of the mating surfaces has a roughened surface forming a vent passageway with the interior surface of the cavity plate for venting mold gasses from the interior of the mold to the exterior of the mold. The invention may further include a blade and blade passageway wherein the blade outer surface has a rough outer surface for forming a vent passageway with the blade passageway.

    摘要: With a split-type vulcanizing mold, a proper clamping force of the mold is obtained without carrying out shim adjustment. A lower washer (16), disc springs (17), and an upper washer (18) are inserted into each of a plurality of cylindrical holes (15) defined on the circumference of a spacer ring (14). A spacer ring (14) provides an outer ring (8) with a pre-load so as to be tightened up by a bolt (12), so that the outer ring (8) can be smoothly moved without backlash in the axial direction thereof all the time. Selection is made on the disc springs (17) having a load such that a proper clamping force is obtained when a deflection of the disc springs (17) is equivalent to half a deflection at the time of the maximum load of the disc springs (17), and regardless of whether variation in dimensions, at the time of fabricating the mold, is on the plus side or minus side, the variation in dimensions is absorbed to thereby clamp the respective sector molds (6) with a proper clamping force. As the sector molds (6) are caused to undergo reduction in diameter, the spacer ring (14) is pushed down by the bolster plate (9) to thereby descend, causing the disc springs (17) to undergo gradual deflection, so that the clamping force applied to the sector molds (6) is increased.

    摘要: The present invention differs fundamentally from prior art because it provides for machining a substantial number of relatively thin annular tooling plates (10), fitting them together side-by-side in two opposed mold sides, and engraving the tread pattern into the interior face of the assembled plates in two or more complementary mold parts to form a unique tire mold (12). In one form of the disclosed construction two halves are built up and internally engraved to form a two-piece clamshell mold. This building up of annular plates (10) applies also to the construction of segmented molds, wherein there are multiple complementary mold sections which are joined to provide a complete circumferential mold. Thus, the invention applies to both two-piece clamshell molds and segmented molds. The invention encompasses an all engraved mold and all venting (22) in the circumferential direction.

    摘要: An apparatus for transferring heat into a product, such as a tire, formed at least in part by molding is provided. The apparatus includes a mold that has a central axis with a forming surface disposed radially outward from the central axis. A heating conduit is included and is at least partially located radially outward from the forming surface of the mold. The heating conduit is configured for use with a gas, such as saturated steam, in order to effect heat transfer to the forming surface of the mold. The heating conduit extends helically with respect to the central axis in order to allow condensation formed in the heating conduit to be drained therefrom via the force of gravity. A drainage connector may be in communication with the exit of the heating conduit and have a lower longitudinal axis than the heating conduit to allow condensation to drain more easily therefrom.
