The apparatus is capable of being aligned to the body portion of the vehicle such that the sliding component rests to an edge portion proximate to the body portion, and the measuring component extends over the body portion for measuring and marking the body portion when the apparatus is slid over the body portion.

In one embodiment, a rotational member is rotatably positioned within a housing under the power of a first drive mechanism to angularly traverse an x-y plane. A rail track is disposed on the surface of the rotational member in order to provide a radial path for a carriage that houses a tool tip. A guide track disposed on a surface of the rotational member includes a curved portion that provides a non-linear path. A second drive mechanism drives the carriage transversely along the radial path of the rail track such that a flexible rack gear travels the non-linear path of the guide track.

    摘要: A geometrical layout tool and method for locating a plurality of target points spaced apart over a particular area from a single reference point located within that area which is defined by the intersection of mutually perpendicular lines. A template placed over these lines has a central opening at the intersection and indicia at its periphery which register respectively with the lines. A center anchoring pin holds the template against movement, and a target line indicator is rotatably adjustable about the pin for alignment with a selected target point. A chalk line and tape measure or a laser may be mounted on the pin to make direction and distance determinations of the selected target point from the reference point.

    摘要: A pipe preparation device is disclosed for chamfering pipe ends and placing witness marks thereon to provide a visible indication that the pipes are properly engaged with a coupling. The device includes a body having co-axially aligned receptacles at opposite ends, the receptacles being sized to receive pipes having different diameters from one another. Cutting blades are mounted on the body and project into each receptacle. The blades have cutting edges that engage the end of a pipe inserted into a receptacle and cut a chamfer when the body is rotated relatively to the pipe. Two scoring tools project into each receptacle. The tools have contact surfaces that engage a pipe inserted into the receptacle. The tools in each receptacle are offset from one another and form two circumferential grooves around the pipe when the body and pipe are rotated relatively to each other. The grooves act as witness marks.
