摘要： An indicator of operating conditions in an internal combustion marine engine displays information about a plurality of engine conditions in response to signals communicated from a remote location over a single wire. Different engines troubles are identified by rectangular voltage wave forms of different duty cycles on the single wire. A logic circuit detects a particular duty cycle and actuates an alarm in response to the detected signal. It is thus possible to alert an operator at a remote location to conditions such as low oil pressure, zero oil pressure or overtemperature by use of a single wire connected to the engine.

摘要： A road vehicle has a transducer which provides an output signal representing movement of an axle relative to a chassis of the vehicle. The output signal is compared with a reference signal to produce an indicator signal which is applied to means for indicating the axle load numerically and for providing a visual indication when the maximum prescribed axle load is exceeded. For initial calibration, the reference signal is temporarily substituted for the output signal and the numerical display is adjusted to display in selected units the prescribed maximum load. The output signal is then restored and the vehicle is loaded to subject the axle to the prescribed maximum load. While this load is maintained, the reference signal is varied until the numerical indication of the prescribed maximum load is restored.

摘要： A chime generator circuit of the type employed to monitor the condition of parameters associated with an automobile, such as warning functions involving headlight operation, fastening of a seat belt, or indications of the ignition key having been inadvertently left in place as the driver is leaving the vehicle, etc. The circuit employs an oscillator which is modulated at a relatively low frequency, on the order of one or two cycles per second, and a unique coupling arrangement for exciting one of the existing speakers of the automobile radio to provide the necessary audible sound. In the disclosed device, the output of a signal generator is fed directly to one speaker, and a switch is interposed in the line extending between the radio output and the speaker. When the switch is open, the radio and speaker are isolated from one another and the generator feeds the speaker directly, producing the desired sound and warning the driver that a certain condition exists. A sensor and driver circuit receives a signal from the generator when the latter is operating, and controls the switch. The generator is enabled or disabled by one or more monitor switches that are disposed at various locations about the vehicle, and which open or close depending on the conditions being monitored. By the above arrangement, there is possible a significant cost reduction by elimination of the relatively expensive transducer heretofore associated with chime generators, since the present generator employs one of the existing speakers associated with the vehicle's radio.

摘要： An agricultural vehicle, such as a tractor, includes an engine and a hydraulic assist-type transmission coupled together by a clutch. A monitor includes sensors for sensing engine speed, clutch temperature and transmission temperature. Warning signals are generated if the clutch temperature is continuously and at least a certain amount hotter than the transmission temperature for a certain time period. The warning signals are disabled if the engine speed is less than a threshold and for a certain time interval after the engine speed exceeds the threshold.

摘要： A device is provided for automatically indicating an insufficient level of oil in a motor-vehicle gearbox of the automatic type. The device includes an oil level sensing system controlling an associated indicator. To prevent spurious operation of the indicator, the device is provided with a number of sensors arranged to ensure that the oil-level sensing system can only effect control of the indicator under certain predetermined conditions including that the vehicle is stationary and on the level, and that the engine is idling. An oil temperature sensor is also provided either to prevent operation of the indictor if the oil temperature is outside a predetermined range, or to effect a temperature dependent adjustment of the acceptable value of oil level.

摘要： Apparatus for providing an electrical warning signal when ferrous contamination builds up in the lubricant of a mechanism utilizing gearing. The apparatus includes a pair of annular magnetic members positioned in a spaced-apart relation on a support member. The support member is attached to the lubricant filler plug so that the magnets are above the normal lubricant level within the mechanism, but are exposed to the normal lubricant flow during operation of the mechanism. The magnetic members are part of a normally-open electrical circuit in which one of the magnets is connected to a source of electrical potential and the other magnet is grounded. One portion of the circuit is then connected to an electrically-actuated warning device so that when ferrous contamination on one of the magnet members comes into contact with ferrous contamination on the other magnetic member, the circuit is closed and a warning signal is provided to the operator of the mechanism.
