An impeller blade hub profile which inhibits stall is described. In an embodiment, the hub profile includes a frontal rising contour followed by a rear constant contour. In another embodiment, the hub profile includes a frontal rapidly rising contour followed by a substantially rear constant contour. It was discovered that this combination is much more effective than conventionally known profiles. Also, the present invention provides a unique way of turning the flow within the passages of the rotating impeller blades. In an embodiment, the blade does not turn much over either the front portion of the hub or the rear portion of the hub, but instead turns near the boundary between the front portion and the rear portion.

A synergistic blade and hub structure for a cooling fan. Helical gussets are provided which proceed from the central hub member adjacent one blade member to the trailing edge of an adjacent blade member. The helical gussets provide structural load paths as well as aerodynamic flow guides. The helical gussets extend axially rearwardly to the trailing edges of preceding blade members and provide structural attachments between the leading and trailing edges of adjacent blade members. Hollow triangular structures are also provided on the rear of the fan structure and the triangulation area provides superior stiffness.

The mount location set is composed of a plurality of locking slots and a mounting region while each locking slot connects the mounting region with the flow guide surface. The impeller includes a mounting part mounted into the mounting region of the base and a plurality of blades is arranged around the mounting part. A reinforcing piece is disposed between the inner edge of the blade and the mounting part for connection, and is mounted into the locking slot correspondingly. By such design, the structural strength of the weak region between the mounting part and the blade is increased and this favors precise location and assembly of the impeller with the base.
