    摘要: An improved screw type disc brake device particularly adapted for a small type automotive vehicle is disclosed in which a male screw member of a relatively large screw lead is screw-engaged with a caliper arm supporting a movable friction pad so that thrust due to forward rotation of the male screw member is utilized as an urging force to bring the movable friction pad into pressure contact with the brake disc. An automatic gap adjustment device is interposed between the male screw member and the movable friction pad for providing the movable friction pad with an advance feed for every reciprocating rotation of the male screw member. A manual adjustment bolt is screw-engaged through the center of the male screw member for adjusting the position of backward movement of the movable friction pad via the automatic gap adjustment device.

    摘要: A disc brake assembly includes a rotor and a pair of friction elements which are engageable with the rotor to retard rotation of the latter. A support carries the rotor and movably disposes the pair of friction elements adjacent the rotor. An actuator is pivotally mounted on the support and is provided with a cam member to urge the pair of friction elements into engagement with the rotor as the actuator moves from a neutral position to a braking position. The actuator includes at least one friction pad which is engageable with the rotor to move the actuator from the neutral position to the braking position. An input member on the actuator is operated by a vehicle operator to control the engagement of the one friction pad with the rotor. The actuator rotates about its pivotal mounting on the support and in the direction of rotation of the rotor when it moves from the neutral position to the braking position. A frame includes a central opening for carrying the pair of friction elements and an extendible assembly is carried within the central opening by a lever. The lever is adjustable by the extendible assembly to control the position of the pair of friction elements relative to the rotor.

A push rod applies the friction pad on the support against the other side of the disc, a spring has one end abutting against the other leg, and a sleeve has one end connected to the liner output generation member and the other end abutting against the other end of the spring.

    摘要: An air-actuated disc brake develops the required force magnification to operate disc brakes from an air pressure chamber using push-pull rods driving a pair of cam levers applying normal force to one shoe plate of the disc brake. Clamp action is carried through to an opposing brake shoe plate by a caliper. The entire air applied disc brake is mounted as a unit to the axle flange. An automatic adjuster compensates for brake lining wear. The cam levers are pivotally mounted to a movable cam carrier located between the caliper and one brake shoe plate.

    摘要: A hoist brake with an incremental self adjusting feature. The brake has interdigitated plates which will stop a driven shaft when engaged and allow the shaft to rotate when not engaged. The brake is normally biased into an engaged position and an electromagnet is provided to disengage the brake. A sensing apparatus is provided which measures the gap traversed by a portion of the brake when the brake is activated, the traverse indicating the amount of wear which has taken place since the last adjustment. When the amount of wear is greater than a predetermined amount, the distance between the electromagnet and associated plate on which it acts is incrementally reduced the next time the brake is activated to adjust the gap and insure continued proper performance.

    摘要: A disc brake includes a frame which carries a pair of friction elements on opposite sides of a rotor. A support fixedly secured to an axle housing cooperates with the frame to permit sliding axial movement and pivoting of the frame relative to the support. A pair of recesses on the support receive flange portions of the frame and form clearances at the connection between the frame and support. Edges on the frame define guides for slidingly carrying the pair of friction elements and recesses on the friction elements fit over the guide for mounting the elements thereon. Moreover, a clearance at the connection between the elements and frame permits the elements to easily slide relative to the frame and pivot relative thereto. A spring member disposed between the support and frame biases the frame to pivot relative to the support to engage the friction elements with the rotor. Adjustment device between the frame and one of the friction elements rotate relative to the frame to limit retraction of the friction elements away from the rotor. The spring member includes a portion releasably engaging the adjustment device to fix the position of the friction elements relative to the rotor.

    摘要: The invention concerns disc brakes of the kind in which only one of the friction elements is directly moved into engagement with the brake disc or other rotor, the other friction element being displaced as a result of reaction forces set up by such engagement and for this purpose being carried by a caliper member which is slidable responsive to such reaction forces. In a disc brake of this type in accordance with the present invention, the caliper is mounted for sliding movement on a first pin arranged between the caliper member and a fixed torque plate member adjoining the brake disc, rotation of the caliper member about said first pin being restrained by a second pin secured to one of said members in circumferentially spaced relation with said first pin. The second pin is located in an aperture in the other of said members by an annular eccentric bush which at least partially embraces the second pin and is slidably received in said aperture to enable tolerance in the circumferential spacing of the pins to be accommodated during assembly of the brake and to enable the drag force to be aportioned between the two pins.

    摘要: A disc brake provides an adjustment mechanism to dispose a pair of friction elements in close proximity to a rotor by limiting the amount of retraction of the friction elements from the rotor. The adjustment mechanism has more than one rate of extension so that large clearances between the rotor and friction elements are reduced to a predetermined running clearance with few brake applications. In particular, a pawl engages a toothed member upon a brake application to rotate the toothed member, thereby extending an extensible member which limits retraction of the friction elements to a predetermined running clearance after a brake application. Keys on the pawl are engageable with the toothed member. These keys are radially disposed to each other so that different rates of rotation are provided for the toothed member thereby varying the rate of the extension of the extensible member.

    摘要: A mechanically actuated disc brake includes a wedge actuator which urges an extensible, force transmitting member toward the disc brake rotor in order to effect a brake application. A ratchet mechanism is carried by the extensible member and by a piston slidably mounted within the brake housing. The ratchet mechanism is responsive to movement of the extensible member toward the rotor in access of a predetermined amount in order to effect elongation of the extensible member to limit retraction in the piston, so that retraction of the friction elements is similarly limited. The extensible member also cooperates with a manual adjustment mechanism which may be used to manually adjust the brakes or to "back-off" the extensible member to permit movement of the friction elements away from the disc in excess of the predetermined amount when the friction elements must be removed when the brake is serviced. The wedge actuating mechanism includes a pair of wedges and a reciprocable push rod which is thrust between the wedges to urge the latter apart when a brake application is effected.

    摘要: A hydraulic actuator for a vehicle brake system is provided with an auxiliary mechanical actuator e.g. a handbrake cam which is fitted to a first component (e.g. a first piston) of the hydraulic actuator and acts through an automatic slack adjuster on a second component (e.g. a second piston) of the hydraulic actuator. The adjuster comprises a rotatable push rod and a non-rotatable nut with a screw-thread connection therebetween. The rotatable push rod has a portion which is sealed to the first piston and upon which the mechanical actuator acts. A relatively light spring biasses at least the above mentioned portion of the rotatable push rod away from the mechanical actuator and automatic adjustment comprising rotation of the rotatable push rod is effected when there is at least a tendency for the above mentioned push rod portion to be displaced and the applied hydraulic pressure is at a relatively low value at which the force applied by the hydraulic pressure to the the above mentioned push rod portion is less than the force of the spring. When the applied hydraulic pressure is above this predetermined relatively low value there is no tendency for the rotatable push rod to move away from the mechanical actuator and no adjustment can take place. The adjuster is thereby rendered load insensitive, i.e. it will not overadjust in the event of brake deflection on heavy brake application.
