Abstract: Provided is a disc brake which solves, with a simple structure, the issue of interference between a carrier and an electric motor. A carder 3 applied to the disc brake includes a recess 28 in one arm 18 of the pair of arms 18 and 19 which recess is casted so as to be recessed in a direction toward a line, which is parallel to a tangent line L3 tangent to an the pin hole boss 16 on one side and perpendicular to a line segment L1 connecting centers of the pair of pin holes (pin hole bosses 16, 16) and extends through the center of the pin hole on the one side, with respect to the tangent line L3. This makes it possible to prevent or reduce the interference between the carrier 3 and the electric motor, with a simple structure.

Abstract: A force transmitting assembly includes a mounting flange having a central opening to receive a shaft, wherein the mounting flange is mountable on a frame, a rotor disc mountable on the shaft and rotatable with the shaft, the rotor disc having a first planar face and a second planar face, a float plate having a first friction surface engageable with the first planar face, and a pressure plate having a second friction surface engageable with the second planar face. The brake assembly also includes a spring housing, which operates as a piston, and a cylinder coupled to the spring housing to form a fluid pressure chamber, wherein the spring housing moves in a first direction when pressurized fluid enters the fluid pressure chamber and the spring housing moves in a second direction when pressurized fluid exits the fluid pressure chamber. The assembly further includes a plurality of nested tube subassemblies supporting the float plate, the pressure plate, and the spring housing to allow axial movement of at least one of the float plate, the pressure plate, and the spring housing. The nested tube subassemblies also transmit torque from the rotor to the mounting flange during the engaged condition of the brake assembly.

Abstract: Sealing means are disclosed for preventing the ingress of water and dirt between a brake caliper and the carrier guide pin. At the end of the guide pin facing away from the brake carrier, a retaining clip holds a sealing bead of a sealing boot at least partially within an axial bore of the guide pin. At the end of the guide pin which faces towards the carrier, a sealing boot is provided seated on a ring which in turn is attached to the caliper. The other end of the sealing boot is attached to the guide pin, in a space between the guide pin and the ring. The sealing means at either end are compact, and provide effective sealing where there is not enough space to provide known sealing means.

Abstract: An electric parking brake includes a driving shaft, an actuator, first and second braking members, and first and second linings. The driving shaft has a threaded portion threadedly engaging the first braking member such that, through operation of the actuator, the first lining is driven by the first braking member to move toward a side surface of a brake disk in a direction to thereby move the second braking member to move toward an opposite side surface of the brake disk in an opposite direction, so that the first and second linings are moved toward each other to clamp the brake disk therebetween.
