摘要: A cryogenic air separation system comprising at least two columns wherein a portion of the feed air is turboexpanded to generate refrigeration, one part is condensed against vaporizing product from the air separation plant, another portion of the feed air is condensed against vaporizing higher pressure product from the air separation plant, and all of the resulting feed air streams are fed into the same column to undergo separation.

摘要: A process is disclosed for producing gaseous crude argon by low-temperature rectification of air wherein a portion of the compressed air is further compressed. The further compressed air is partially liquefied by countercurrent heat exchange with evaporating crude argon obtained in the liquid phase, this crude argon being under elevated pressure.

摘要: The invention discloses process and apparatus for increasing the efficiency of subambient cascaded .fractional distillations such as air separation, ethane-ethylene separation, or nitrogen rejection from natural gas. The improvement provides an advantageous means of generating the optimal amount of intermediate reflux liquid for both rectifications in the cascade. Referring to FIG. 4, a latent heat exchanger (415) is provided in which a liquid from the HP rectifying section (403) of the cascade exchanges latent heat with a minor fraction of the feed gas. The condensed feed is then split by two valves (409 and 410) into respective intermediate reflux streams for both parts of the cascade (402 and 403).

摘要: The argon recovery obtainable from a dual pressure cryogenic air distillation plant for production of high purity oxygen is increased beyond present levels without offsetting incurrence of detriments such as lower O.sub.2 pressure, lower O.sub.2 or N.sub.2 recovery, less liquid recovery, or increased energy. This is done by providing an intermediate reflux condenser (component 8 of FIG. 1) in the argon sidearm 2b, and providing liquid N.sub.2 via valve 9 to said condenser, thereby increasing the reboil up both argon stripper 2a and the lower section of 2b proportional to the amount of LN.sub.2 evaporated in 8.

摘要: For the production of high pressure O.sub.2 by two-stage low-temperature rectification wherein prior to said rectification the air is subjected to a preliminary purification step, compressed, and cooled by heat exchange with separation products, the improvement of splitting the air feed prior to cooling; further compressing a split minor portion of the air feed; at least partially liquefying said further compressed air feed in a condenser-evaporator in indirect heat exchange contact with vaporizing oxygen product, the condenser-evaporator being at least functional separate and distinct from the rectification column and under a higher pressure on the oxygen side than the sump of the low pressure stage of the rectification column; passing resultant at least partially liquefied air into the high pressure stage of the rectification column; cooling a split major portion of the air feed without further compressing; and passing resultant cooled major portion of the air feed into the high pressure stage of the rectification column.
