    摘要: A method and apparatus to produce oxygen and nitrogen co-products in which a compressed a compressed and purified air stream is cooled, fully or partially condensed and then rectified in a main distillation column to form a nitrogen-rich vapor column overhead and crude liquid oxygen. A crude liquid oxygen stream is depressurized and then stripped in an auxiliary distillation column with a stripping gas to produce an oxygen-rich liquid. The nitrogen-rich vapor column overhead from the main distillation column is used to form a nitrogen product and the crude liquid oxygen is partially vaporized to produce the stripping gas, a residual oxygen-rich liquid and liquid nitrogen reflux to the main distillation column. The oxygen product is formed from the residual oxygen-rich liquid by either providing the heat exchange duty in condensing the compressed and purified air stream or by condensing nitrogen-rich vapor used in refluxing the main distillation column.

    摘要: A process is provided for the production of intermediate pressure oxygen. Intermediate pressure is defined as a pressure range between about 15 psia and about 27 psia, and preferably between about 17 psia and about 23 psia. The process uses a double column cryogenic air separation system for the production of oxygen from air which includes a higher pressure column and a lower pressure column, wherein a nitrogen-enriched fraction from the higher pressure column is condensed by indirect heat exchange in a reboiler-condenser that provides at least a fraction of the boilup at the bottom of the lower pressure column. Oxygen is withdrawn from the lower pressure column as a liquid and vaporized. One portion of air is feed air to the higher pressure column and a another portion of air is at least partially condensed by indirect heat exchange with the vaporizing oxygen. The latter portion of air is at least partially condensed at a pressure less than the pressure of the feed air to the higher pressure column. The process is suitable for the production of intermediate pressure oxygen with a purity of at least about 85 mole %.

    摘要: The present invention relates to an elevated pressure air separation cryogenic process wherein feed air is compressed, treated to remove water and carbon dioxide, cooled to cryogenic temperature in a main heat exchanger having a cold end and a warm end and fed to a distillation column system having at least two (2) distillation columns for separation into at least a nitrogen-enriched product, an oxygen-enriched product and a gaseous waste stream characterized in that at least a portion of said waste stream is (isentropically) expanded to produce work and work produced by the expansion is used to provide at least a portion of the work required to compress a process stream other than the gaseous waste stream at a temperature warmer than the temperature of the cold end of said main heat exchanger. The alternative process streams to be compressed can be: at least a portion of the feed air, at least a portion of the oxygen-enriched product or at least a portion of the nitrogen-enriched product.

    摘要: A cryogenic process for producing impure oxygen and/or substantially pure nitrogen utilizes a classic double column arrangement and an additional third column operating at a medium pressure, i.e. between the pressure of the higher pressure stage and the lower pressure stage of the double column system. A portion of the feed air is separated in the stages of the double column system, and another portion of the feed air is distilled in the medium pressure stage. Crude liquid oxygen from the higher pressure stage and/or the medium pressure stage is reduced in pressure and boiled in a reboiler/condenser at the top of the medium pressure column. The vaporized crude liquid oxygen from the top reboiler/condenser of the medium pressure column is subsequently introduced as a vapor feed to the lower pressure stage, which reduces irreversibilities of separation in the lower pressure stage.

    摘要: The present invention is an improvement to a two distillation column, cryogenic air separation process which produces nitrogen-rich and oxygen-rich products. The improvement to the process is condensing at least a portion of the nitrogen overhead from the high pressure column in a reboiler/condenser against a crude liquid oxygen stream and in an intermediate reboiler/condenser located in the low pressure column against internal low pressure column streams. The condensed nitrogen overhead is fed either to the low pressure or high pressure columns as reflux. The vaporized portion of the crude liquid oxygen stream is work expanded to provide some or all of the refrigeration required for the process.
