摘要: A virtualized processing environment includes one or more virtual servers. Applications of a virtual server listen on any of the addresses associated with that virtual server. This includes listening on multiple addresses should multiple addresses be assigned to the virtual server. The applications specify a generic address that allows them to listen on any of the addresses. The applications need not know what addresses are assigned to the virtual server.

摘要: A communications system which allows data transfer not using a terminal ID assigned by an access network but using routing information distinct from the terminal ID is provided. The communications system transmits data including, as a destination address, a second terminal ID, from a first terminal to the second terminal via a plurality of transfer devices. A first transfer device includes a first memory for storing the second terminal ID and routing information for routing the data to a second transfer device, associating them with one another, and a routing processor for adding to the data the routing information for routing the data to the second transfer device associated with the second terminal ID included in the data, and transferring the data to the second transfer device.

摘要: In a method for configuring a device with a DHCP protocol, wherein the device is in communication with an access server via a PPPoE protocol, a session is started by the access server. An IP address is assigned to the device. A previously unknown IP address of a DHCP server is transmitted to the device, wherein the DHCP server provides for a DHCP service and a DNS service. An IP address of the DNS service is equated with the IP address of the DHCP server. A directed DHCP request is sent from the device to the IP address for the DNS service.

摘要: Embodiments may provide mechanisms for representing trust between peers or systems in decentralized networking environments including peer-to-peer networking environments. Trust may include both direct trust between two peers and trust in a pipeline of peers along which codat may be passed. Embodiments may provide a mechanism for a peer to represent and rate the trustworthiness of other peers as providers of codat relevant to the peer's interest. To evaluate trust in another peer as a provider of codats in the area of interest, trust may be represented with two components, confidence and risk. Embodiments may provide mechanisms for measuring the components and determining trust from the components. Embodiments may also provide mechanisms for feeding back trust information to the providing peer and for propagating trust information to other peers.

摘要: A method and system for configuring one or more prospective-participant nodes as participant nodes so as to enable the prospective-participant nodes to engage in a peer-to-peer communication is provided. In one exemplary embodiment, the method and system may be embodied as a common application that includes logic, in hardware or software form, for carrying out one or more of the functions for configuring one or more prospective-participant nodes as a participant node in a peer-to-peer network. In carrying out these functions, one of the participant nodes discovers its network connection settings, and based on these settings, generates participant-node-configuration data that includes one or more network connection settings that define how to address the prospective-participant node as a participant node. When desiring to join the peer-to-peer network, the prospective-participant node and the participant node may establish a point-to-point communication link by engaging in a discovery process using so as to establish a data-link layer connection. After completing negotiation of the data-link-layer connection, the prospective-participant node and the participant node may communicate over the data-link-layer connection. The prospective-participant node may send to the participant node a request for network access. Responsively, the participant node sends to the prospective-participant node the participant-node-configuration data over the point-to-point connection. And the prospective-participant node configures itself using the participant-node-configuration data so as to become a participant node.

摘要: Attenuation caused by dispersion in an optical fiber communications system is compensated. A number of low-speed channels is to be transmitted across an optical fiber. Each low-speed channel is allocated a different frequency band for transmission. The attenuation caused by dispersion is estimated for each of the frequency bands. The power of each low-speed channel is adjusted to compensate for the estimated attenuation. The power-adjusted low-speed channels are frequency division multiplexed together to produce an electrical high-speed channel suitable for transmission across the communications system.

摘要: A communication method for interworking of local heterogeneous link protocols, includes the following steps: when the type of an input interface of a data packet is a predefined type, remove link layer information of the data packet according to a link protocol of the input interface; transmit the data packet to an output interface; a Provider Edge (PE) encapsulates the data packet according to a link protocol of the output interface and transmits the encapsulated data packet through the output interface. The present invention also discloses a communication apparatus for interworking of local heterogeneous link protocols, including: an input interface, an output interface and a data processor. The present invention processes data packets from specific interfaces and directly transmits the data packets to output interfaces, thereby implementing the interworking of local heterogeneous link layer protocols and smooth upgrading of networks.

摘要: A communication system preferable to a technique of allowing only an ISP (151) connecting a user terminal to the Internet to manage information about the charging for the service provided to the user by an ASP (132) in the Internet so as to prevent credit card information on the credit card of the user from leaking into the Internet and preferable to dial-up server for providing connection with access limit to a computer communication network such as the Internet to a terminal, a relay device, a service providing device, a relay method, a service providing method, and a program product for realizing them. The feasibility of the relay between a terminal (111) and an ASP (132)I by an ISP (151) is determined on the basis of the relay condition (for example, the condition determined by the IP address and the port number) correlated with the user using the terminal (111). The system inquires of the ISP (151) if the ASP (132) provides a service to the terminal (111). If the user of the terminal (111) is registered in the ISP (151), the ISP (151) carries out the charging of the service in place of the ASP (132), and the ASP (132) provides the service to the terminal (111) through the ISP (151).
