    Abstract: Deformation of a second optical carriage (B) due to heat is large on a (C) side where an inverter (31) is attached and small on a (D) side. A mirror supporting portion inside the second optical carriage (B) supports the mirror at one point on the (C) side and at two points on the (D) side. An angle of the reflecting mirror (8) depends on two protrusions on the (D) side where thermal deformation is small, and the mirror is supported at one point on the (C) side where thermal deformation is large. Thus, even if an angle of the mirror supporting portion (C) changes, the angle of the reflecting mirror (8) is not affected. Therefore, a change in the angle of the reflecting mirror (8) can be controlled to be small when temperature of the second optical carriage (B) rises during a reading operation, and decrease in reading accuracy due to thermal deformation of the second optical carriage (B) can be suppressed.

    Abstract: An optical reflection panel made of thermosetting plastic material as a substrate is disclosed. One surface of the substrate is coated with an adherent layer and then an optical reflecting layer is formed on the adherent layer as a reflecting surface for reflecting a light beam. The other surface of the substrate is formed with a reinforcing structure. The reinforcing structure serves to increase the mechanical strength of the optical reflection panel and control the deformation amount. The reinforcing structure includes a number of reinforcing ribs extending along the longitudinal axis of the optical reflection panel and a number of reinforcing ribs perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the optical reflection panel.

    Abstract: In an imaging system having at least two optically butted CCD sensors disposed in angular relation to each other and onto which light images are projected by means of a light beam splitter, the correct spacial position of the sensors is determined providing the beam splitter with mounting surfaces on which the respective sensors are mounted and the sensors with lateral surfaces, and utilizing mounting members for the opposite ends of each sensor, each mounting member having a base surface and a supporting surface extending in true rectangular fashion thereon. The base surface of each mounting member is adhesively bonded to one of the mounting surfaces of the beam splitter and its supporting surface is adhesively bonded to a lateral surface of a sensor, such bonding being effected after each sensor has been correctly aligned.
