摘要： There is disclosed a method of connecting tubes using a connector which comprises a body 41, through which is positioned a screw 43 having a head 44 and a threaded stem 45. A resiliently deformable member 413 is positioned on the threaded stem and a washer 46 is positioned on the threaded stem 45 the opposite side of the resiliently deformable member 413 from the body 41. A second washer 412 is positioned between the resiliently deformable member 413 and the body 41. In the method of the present invention the connector is inserted into a tube and a screwdriver is inserted into a groove in the head 44 of the screw 43. The screw 43 is thus rotated so that the washer 46 is threaded along the threaded stem 45 towards the body 41, thus compressing the resiliently deformable member 413 so that the resiliently deformable member 413 bulges outwardly and thus establishes a friction grip on the inner surface of the tube, thus securing the connector in relation to the tube.

摘要： A device for securing furniture panels at right angles to each other includes a holding member including a plug portion which is positioned in a recess in a major surface of a first panel. The plug has a front wall which is exposed at one edge of the panel and positioned substantially flush with the panel edge. A chamber extends perpendicular to the edge of the panel through the full length of the plug from a first opening in the front wall to a second opening opposite the front wall. The chamber retains a screw within the body of the plug. A top wall of the plug is exposed at the major surface of the panel and has an opening extending into the body portion of the plug to enable tightening of a screw to engage a second, substantially perpendicular, second panel and draw the second panel toward the edge of the first panel. The screw can be inserted either through the top opening or through an opening opposite the front wall of the plug prior to insertion of the plug into the panel recess.

摘要： A coupling between adjacent ends of transfer bar sections which includes a screw having threads of opposite hand at opposite ends thereof engaged with threaded counterbores in the ends of the two transfer bar sections. A spacer ground precisely to a desired length is clamped between the ends of the bar sections when the screw is tightened. The spacer and screw have radially aligned holes therein to accommodate a tool for tightening the screw. The holes are dimensioned relative to the tool so that the screw can be tightened a final increment without rotating the spacer.

摘要： Foamed-in-place metal skin covered insulating panels for the walls of walk-in coolers, freezers and refrigerated warehouses having a fastening bar assembly encapsulated therein. The fastening bar assembly possesses opposite end male and female fastening means for positive and rigid coupling with like threaded means of adjacent wall panels. The male fastening means includes a lag screw and a unique retaining means for the screw which positions it for use while protecting it from contact with the foamed insulation during fabrication of the panel with the fastening bar assembly in place between jig fixtures. The less efficient, weaker and more costly cam locking means of the prior art is eliminated.

摘要： A fastening device for detachably joining a connecting element and at least one elongated part. A screwed connection is utilized to realize joining. The screwed connection may comprise a screw adapted to be screwed into the connecting element, or a nut and a screw, the latter having one or more hooks for engagement with an engageable edge of the connecting element. The elongated part is formed with a longitudinal cavity adapted to receive the screw, which cavity is open over some distance to the end of the elongated part where the joint is to be established and which is in communication with a lateral opening formed in the elongated part and separated from the open cavity end of the part. A butting member bearing against the edge surface of the lateral opening cooperates with the screw and the nut, respectively, and urges the elongated part against the connecting element when the screwed connection is tightened.

摘要： An improved segmented cutter bar for mining machines and the like wherein a cutting chain carrying bits is adapted to run continuously around the periphery of the cutter bar. The cutter bar comprises a flat elongated member having straight uninterrupted sides. A plurality of segments, also having straight uninterrupted sides, is adapted to bear flush against the sides of the cutter bar. The side segments are provided with suitable grooves, usually T-shaped, to receive T-shaped members extending from the cutting chain. The side segments are maintained flush against the outer peripheral sides of the cutter bar by means of threaded bolts extending from the adjacent bottom of the T-shaped slots and into a threaded nut placed within a bore extending into and/or through the cutter bar proper adjacent the peripheral edge thereof. A plurality of these bores and nuts is arranged at spaced intervals adjacent the peripheral edge of the cutter bar. Suitable openings extend from the side edges of the cutter bar to the respective nut-bores so that the threaded portion of the bolt may pass therethrough into engagement with the correspondingly threaded nut. The bolt is provided with an enlarged head which seats within an appropriate recess provided in the segment so as to hold same flush against the cutter bar.
