摘要:
A chorus apparatus is constructed for creating a chorus sound to accompany a vocal sound which is sung by a singer. In the chorus apparatus, a providing device provides music information including reference pitch information which indicates a regular variation of an actual pitch of the vocal sound and harmony pitch information which determines a harmony pitch of the chorus sound. A detecting device detects the actual pitch of the vocal sound containing the regular variation and an irregular fluctuation which overlaps the regular variation. A controlling device extracts the irregular fluctuation of the actual pitch from the vocal sound according to the reference pitch information, and modifies the harmony pitch information to impart thereto a desired fluctuation corresponding to the irregular fluctuation extracted from the vocal sound. A generating device operates according to the modified harmony pitch information for generating the chorus sound containing the desired fluctuation over the harmony pitch. A mixing device mixes the vocal sound and the chorus sound with each other.

An improved control structure for music synthesis is provided in which: 1) the sound representation provided to the adaptive function mapper allows for a greatly increased degree of control over the sound produced; and 2) training of the adaptive function mapper is performed using an error measure, or error norm, that greatly facilitates learning while ensuring perceptual identity of the produced sound with the training example. In accordance with one embodiment of the invention, sound data is produced by applying to an adaptive function mapper control parameters including: at least one parameter selected from the set of time and timbre space coordinates; and at least one parameter selected from the set of pitch, .DELTA.pitch, articulation and dynamic. Using an adaptive function mapper, mapping is performed from the control parameters to synthesis parameters to be applied to a sound synthesizer. In accordance with another embodiment of the invention, an adaptive function mapper is trained to produce, in accordance with information stored in a mapping store, synthesis parameters to be applied to a sound synthesizer, by steps including: analyzing sounds to produce sound parameters describing the sounds; further analyzing the sound parameters to produce control parameters; applying the control parameters to the adaptive function mapper, the adaptive function mapper in response producing trial synthesis parameters comparable to the sound parameters; deriving from the sound parameters and the trial synthesis parameters an error measure in accordance with a perceptual error norm in which at least some error contributions are weighted in approximate degree to which they are perceived by the human ear during synthesis; and adapting the information stored in the mapping store in accordance with the error measure.

A karaoke apparatus produces a karaoke accompaniment which accompanies a singing voice of an actual player, and concurrently creates a harmony voice originating from a virtual player. In the karaoke apparatus, a memory device stores voice information of the virtual singer. An input device collects the singing voice of the actual player. An analyzing device analyzes an audio frequency of the collected singing voice. A synthesizing device processes the stored voice information based on the analyzed audio frequency to synthesize the harmony voice having another audio frequency which is set in harmony with the analyzed audio frequency. An output device mixes the collected singing voice and the synthesized harmony voice with each other, and outputs the mixed singing and harmony voices along with the karaoke accompaniment. In one preferred embodiment, the memory device stores the voice information in the form of a sequence of phonetic elements that are successively sampled syllable by syllable from a singing voice of the virtual player.

A sound effect imparting apparatus, which is employed in the electronic musical instrument in order to impart a variety of sound effects to the musical tones in a variety of manners, is mainly configured by an effect program memory, a sound-effect operation portion, a mixer and a mixing information supply portion. The effect program memory stores a plurality of effect programs, respectively corresponding to a plurality of sound effects to be imparted to musical tone data, in advance. The sound-effect operation portion performs arithmetic operations and/or logical operations on its input data in accordance with the effect programs read from the effect program memory, thus imparting desired sound effects to the musical tone data. The mixer receives the musical tone data, given from an external device, and operation data, outputted from the sound-effect operation portion, representing the musical tone data to which the sound effects have been imparted. Thus, the mixer selects some of the data inputted thereto in accordance with mixing information given from the mixing information supply portion, so that the selected data are mixed together; and consequently, mixed data are supplied to the sound-effect operation portion. On the basis of the mixed data outputted from the mixer, the musical tones to which several kinds of sound effects are imparted can be produced.

An electronic musical instrument can execute a musical performance with two timbres mixed together by operating a single key, for example. Of the two timbres, a master timbre is set in normal mode and is stored in a first memory, while a slave timbre is selected in tone mix mode and is stored in a second memory. Each timbre can be altered as desired. To alter the master timbre, timbre switches are operated after the mode is temporarily changed to normal mode. To alter the slave timbre, the timbre switches are operated in tone mix mode. When the tone mix mode is set, this electronic musical instrument can permit a player to easily alter tone parameters such as the volume, pitch and attack delay time of each timbre.

A keyboard operated electronic musical instrument in which a number of tone generators are assigned to actuated keyswitches in which a flute chorus of similar tones at preselected pitch footages are generated by implementing a discrete Fourier transform employing a selected sequence of harmonic coefficients. Two stored harmonic coefficients suffice to generate a tibia type flute chorus. A harmonic sequence select logic in cooperation with signals derived from actuated tone switches provide the selected sequences of harmonic coefficients.

An asynchronous interface includes two memories which store multiplexed keyboard information such that while one memory is writing in newly acquired key information from one musical instrument system at the clock rate of that system, the other memory is reading out previously acquired key information to a second musical instrument system at the clock rate of the second system. Periodically, based on timing signals derived from both systems, the read/write roles of the two memories are reversed. Any number of asynchronously clocked systems, each connected to an associated asynchronous interface, may be keyed by a single key multiplexing device or by the multiplexing information from another asynchronous interface.

For generating tones in an electronic musical instrument, there are provided multiple master frequency sources, a different source for each octave, differing in frequency from each other by a factor which differs from two by at least one semitone, each of which is coupled to a respective frequency synthesizer all of which have the same dividing ratios, to divide down the frequency of its master frequency source to pitches of the twelve notes in the intended octave. In one embodiment the sources are separate master clock pulse sources, and in another embodiment a pulse train derived from a single clock pulse source is applied to the frequency synthesizer for the highest octave, and the pulse train applied to each of the other synthesizers is derived from the pulse train supplied to the frequency synthesizer for the next highest octave by dividing the pulse repetition frequency thereof by a factor which differs from two by one or more semitones. The result is that temperament errors are randomized by placing them at different interval locations in each octave, and corresponding musical tones of successive octaves are not locked in phase relationship but have frequencies which differ slightly from pure harmonics, so as to present a pleasant chorus effect when such tones are reproduced simultaneously.

A device for producing a chorus effect in an electronic musical instrument. An electronic delay circuit and a non-modulating amplifier means are coupled in parallel and the outputs are mixed in a mixing amplifier. A carrier oscillator is coupled to the delay circuit for controlling the time delay of the delay circuit according to the frequency of its output, and normally oscillates at a relatively high frequency in the range of 80-100 KHz. A modulation signal generator is coupled to the carrier oscillator for frequency modulating the carrier oscillator toward lower oscillating frequencies, and a control signal generator is coupled between the input to the delay circuit and the modulation signal generator for detecting the musical tone signal input to the delay circuit and producing a control signal only when a musical tone signal input is detected. The delay time of the electronic delay circuit is thus modulated only when a musical tone signal input exists and when the carrier oscillator is not subjected to frequency modulation when no musical tone signal exists, the noise in the delay circuit is not modulated and any jarring effect in the output thereof is substantially eliminated.
