摘要: A pair of spaced parallel continuous conveyor chains, provided with equally spaced transverse tow bars, move along a continuous path so as to move the bars through a loading zone, then over a weighing platform of a scale and, then, successively over discharge zones in which receptacles are disposed. Each bar pulls a loosely pivoted article carrying cup having a support pin riding on a rail to hold the cup in a horizontal position. The cup has a central cavity, within which an article is deposited when the cup is in the loading zone, from which the article is discharged when the pin is released and the cup hangs suspended from its bar. Skids carried by the weighing scale receive and totally support the cup on the weighing scale. Movable bridge struts extend between segments of the rail and are movable to drop pin to pivot the cup in one of successive dump zones. A sensor, in combination with a microcomputer, dictates when each bridge strut is opened for dropping the article in a selected dump zone.The process includes moving the articles successively along a path averaging the weight of each article, selecting a dump zone for depositing the article in, totalizing the weight for each zone and then selecting according to optimum weight, the last article for each zone so as to provide at least a predescribed weight of articles while minimize weight overloading for each zone.

摘要: A sorting apparatus classifies and discharges articles, such as items of agricultural produce, in accordance with their individual weights. A multichannel conveyor cooperates with a front end singulator which receives the produce from a source of supply and which provides the items in single file to a continuous line of spaced carrying cups moved by the conveyor along each channel. The cups are disposed for movement between an upright article carrying position and a depending discharge position, and they are supported by a rail in each channel. The rail has openings therein at each of a plurality of discharge stations spaced therealong. The cups each pass over a weighing scale aligned with the supporting rail near the front end of each conveyor channel which scale comprises a pivotally mounted bar upon which the cups ride. The bar provides a weight signal when it pivots with the signal determining the position of the cup on the bar when pivoting occurs and thereby being proportional to the weight of the cup and article supported thereby. A fast acting gate is located in each channel at each discharge station. The gate is configured to be either actuated to a discharge position away from the opening, thereby allowing a cup to assume the depending discharge position, or unactuated to thereby bridge the opening and allow the cup to pass and remain in its upright article carrying position.

摘要: The invention discloses a weight sorting system wherein a single weighing station controls a plurality of weight-range article removal stations. These removal stations are disposed downstream of the weighing station and sorting information is synchronously passed with the articles on route to discharge. The rate at which articles are selected for removal at a given station is controlled by varying the weight range for that station. The weighing system is constantly re-calibrated by employing a plurality of test weights, one for each sorting weight range, carried by the conveyor system and an electronic compensating unit.

摘要: A mail weighing and sorting machine directs mail in seriatim from a weighing station along segmented track portions of a main feed track. As each piece of mail is weighed a weight signal is delivered to a control circuit which is operative to cause a selected track segment to intercept the corresponding piece of mail as it travels along the main feed track. The control circuit includes a comparator which produces weight category signals from various stages thereof depending upon the weight of each piece of mail. Each computer output stage is connected to an associated delivery circuit. Each delivery circuit includes means for gating its various weight category signals to a corresponding actuator control, but some of the gated signals are delayed in a primary delay device which provides outputs to both the corresponding actuator control and an AND gate for gating a second weight category signal to a secondary delay device in the event the first delay device is already delaying a first weight category signal.
