摘要： An apparatus for monitoring the spatial position of a reference point relative to a predetermined origin, the reference point being located on an articulated marine loading arm having a plurality of pivotally interconnected fluid conduits forming pivot angles at the interconnections of the conduits, includes segments subtended by the pivot angles and means are provided for sensing lengths of the segments as the loading arm articulates. The sensing means generate electrical signals proportional to the segment lengths and a computer receives the electrical signals and calculates the position of the reference point therefrom based on the known geometry of the loading arm.

摘要： A hopper vessel for storing bulk material such as dredged material, has one or more holds. The holds in their bottom are provided with trap doors that open by moving downwardly below the bottom of the vessel. In shallow water, there is the risk that these trap doors, when moved downwardly, will contact the bottom or the material that is deposited from the hopper vessel on the bottom. Therefore, some of the trap doors in the hold are at a higher level in the closed position than the other trap doors. To discharge material, the higher trap doors are opened first; and after enough material has been discharged that the vessel rises sufficiently high in the water, only then are the lower trap doors moved to open position to complete the discharge of the material. The higher trap doors are provided at the ends of the hold. This allows adjusting the angle of the vessel if the bottom of the body of water is sloped.

摘要： Hopper barge comprising one or more cargo spaces and a series of discharge openings in the bottom of the hold. Each opening comprises a bottom flap which in the downwards displaced position realizes a connection between the hold through the respective discharge opening to the water outside the barge. The barge further comprises a suction channel extending in the longitudinal direction of the barge whereby the bottom flaps each have at least one wall assuring the continuity of the channel in case the flaps are completely closed and connecting the channel to the hold when a flap is in the intermediate position, in which the discharge opening is still closed. Each flap comprises a pivotally attached hollow body with a wall opposite the pivot shaft, which wall extends concentrically in relation to said shaft. The shafts of all flaps extend substantially parallel to the longitudinal direction of the barge and two longitudinal edges of the barge construction positioned above each other form sealing and/or stop edges cooperating with each flap in the upper closed position and in the intermediate suctioning position.

摘要： A rotatable pontoon includes a floating cylinder provided with watertight compartments and having a hollow interior for receiving one or more vessels adapted to be overturned by rotation of the pontoon. Rotation is achieved by either external power or by successively displacing water from one compartment to another. An external platform attached to the pontoon maintains a normal upright position during rotation of the pontoon and serves to contain accessory equipment. Alternatively, this equipment is attached to a belt surrounding the pontoon and fastened to stationary flotation tanks. Floating roofs are included to allow operation during rainy days and for removing load fractions remaining after a vessel is overturned, pushing panels and helicoidal hatch-feeders are provided.

摘要： A hydraulic system for opening and closing hopper barge comprises at least one and preferably two fluid pressure cylinders which are adapted to be positioned on one of the barge parts and a piston which is slidable in the cylinder which is adapted to be connected through its piston rod to the other barge part. The cylinder is connected by a first conduit at its piston rod end and by a second conduit at the opposite end, and a pump and a return line are connected to the respective first and second conduits. A pilot valve is located in the first and second conduits and includes three separate positions. In one position a pump discharge is connected to one end of the cylinder and the other end is connected to the return, and in another position, the opposite is true. In a third position, the first conduit is connected to a check valve and the pump discharge is connected to a return line in order to short circuit the pump. One end of the cylinder, for example one having the first circuit, is provided with a check valve arrangement which permits the piston to be locked in its position in the cylinder, preventing return flow except upon the occurrence of a predetermined excess of pressure. The check valves permit relief of the pressure throughout the connective system. Before the check valve locking system is opened, the pressures lines to the associated piston are checked by an electrohydraulic pressure switch, and for this purpose a second pilot valve is connected in the first and second conduits for selectively connecting them to the pressure side of the pump or the return line.

摘要： A hopper barge bottom seal construction comprises a barge having a first and second pivotal part which extend longitudinally and are oriented with their lower ends extending obliquely together but spaced apart at their lower ends. A seal is provided below the lower ends of the parts for sealing the space therebetween and it comprises a first support which is positioned below the first pivotal part as a first top generally horizontal member engaged below the first part and secured to the bottom end thereof. A second support has a second top substantially horizontal member alongside the first top horizontal member and it is secured to the second pivotal part and both supports are movable inwardly toward each other and outwardly in an opposite direction during assembly. The first support has a lower support plate which extends below the second support and an elastic seal body in the form of a hollow tubular member is disposed between the bottom of the second support and the top of the lower support plate. A rib on each side of the seal body extending along the bottom of the second support holds the elastic seal body in place. The elastic seal body advantageously comprises a tube which is filled with a gaseous fluid which is pressurized to an extent which corresponds to the actual sealing pressure conditions.
