摘要: In the label printing system of the present invention, a strip of adhesive-backed label stock capable of receiving a latent charge image and having a releasable backing layer is drawn continuously from a supply reel and passed successively through an electrostatic print head, a developer, a pressure fixer, and a rotary die or butt cutter for separating the printed stock into individual labels on the uncut releasable backing layer. The latent imaging of each label at the electrostatic print head is carried out at defined discrete locations on the label stock. These locations may be defined in response to a synchronization signal produced by an angular position detector cooperating with the rotary cutter. The synchronization signal is indicative of a predetermined instantaneous rotational orientation of the cutting elements on the rotary cutting member, thereby insuring that the printed label indicia are properly centered within the label edges after die or butt cutting. When die cutting is used, separate takeup reels are provided for the waste cuttings and for the finished labels on the uncut releasable backing layer.

摘要: The present invention is directed to a recorder having recorded paper mounted to advance from a body with a curved surface to a roller lengthwise, and with at least one recording stylus mounted to move transversally across the width of the recording paper as it moves lengthwise. Additionally, a lead piece is placed in the path of the recording stylus extending over the edge of the recording paper to smoothly lead the recording stylus into the recording paper. This lead piece is rotatably supported on the recorder, with a means for continuously biasing the lead piece in a direction to withdraw the lead piece from the path of the recording paper, along with an obstruction positioned to push the biasing means to retain the lead piece over said recording paper.

摘要: In a printer of the type in which print is formed on a drum by an electrostatic process in which charges in the shape of the characters to be printed are placed on the surface of the drum and after development the print is transferred therefrom onto a print receiving surface of a print medium by means solely of pressure acting between the print medium and the drum and in which the drum comprises an electrically conductive former having a cylindrical surface uniformly coated with a dielectric layer, a drum charging system which comprises an array of parallel conductors and an elastomeric laminate 5 in the form of a strip having one end contacting each conductor of said array 2 of parallel conductors and the other end wiping the dielectric surface of the drum 3 along a line parallel to the drum axis, said laminate being formed by a plurality of contiguous layers which are alternately conductive and non-conductive, each of which layers is oriented to respectively extend from the array of conductors to the said drum in a plane normal to the axis of the latter. Each conductor is connected to a respective pulse driver and the pulse drivers are connected to a character generating means. In the preferred arrangement the array of parallel conductors comprises an array of conductors on a printed circuit board. The system is shown embodied in a hand manipulatable printer and also in a high speed line printer.

摘要: An electric recording material comprising a support and an electrically conductive recording layer formed at least in the surface portion of the substrate, which recording layer is composed of a dispersion of a basic salt of divalent tin or tin (II) hydroxide in an electrically conductive medium, gives an image having high density and contrast at relatively low electric power when applied to an electrolytic recording process utilizing cathodic reduction. This image can be preserved for a long time without discoloration of the background. Especially good results are obtained when a specific polyhydric alcohol is incorporated in the recording layer optionally with a specific organic sulfur compound. This recording material is effectively applied to an electric recording process comprising electrically connecting this recording material between a cathode stylus and a counter anode so that the recording layer falls in contact with the cathode stylus, moving the cathode stylus and recording material relatively to scan the cathode stylus over the surface of the recording layer, and simultaneously applying electric signals between the cathode stylus and counter anode to form a visible image on the recording layer.

摘要: Generation of charged particles, e.g. ions, by extracting them from a high density source provided by an electrical gas breakdown in an electric field between two conducting electrodes separated by an insulator. When a high frequency electric field is applied, surprisingly high ion current densities can be obtained, providing numerous advantages over conventional ion forming techniques for use in electrostatic printing and office copying, as well as in electrostatic discharging, precipitation, separation, and coating.

摘要: A printing apparatus for multiple signal printout has separate multiplexers for analog and pulse channels. The multiplexed analog signal is digitized, formatted, and applied via a selector to an adder, alternatively and selectively, the pulses are applied as digital signals to the adder. The adder receives zero offset numbers which differ for the different channels and the resultant numbers are applied to a one-out-of-n decoder driving printing electrodes. The system is under control of a cyclically addressed ROM whose outputs controls the multiplexing and furnishes the offset numbers. A clock sequencer times each acquisition frame.
