    摘要: A multi-component bedding assembly, including a mattress or futon, is vacuum packaged in an air impermeable bag by drawing a vacuum at the open end of the bag and applying a ram or pushing force against the bedding assembly at the closed end of the bag. The pushing force may be intermittently cycled. The packaged bedding assembly also may be wrapped in a woven polyethylene overwrap and tied with bands before it is inserted into a shipping carton.

    摘要: Apparatus and methods for cutting compressible cellular polymers such as polyurethane foam, are characterized by a first die roller and a pressure roller, wherein both rollers define raised portions separated by recesses or depressions, and the raised portions on the first die roller register with the recesses of the pressure roller at a nip formed between the rollers. Portions of the polymer material extruded into the spaces between the raised portions of the first die roller are cut away, such that the cut product conforms substantially to the surface geometry of the first die roller, and the depth of cut is greater than with prior rotary cutting methods.

    摘要: A static dissipative flexible polyurethane foam is formed under free rise expansion conditions from a polyether graft polyol and an isocyanate, wherein one or more anti-static additives are incorporated into the reaction mix in an amount from 0.10 to 20 parts by weight. Water is added in an amount of from 0.2 to 1.0 parts per weight. Upon curing, the foam has a density in the range of 6 to 20 pounds per cubic foot, a surface resistivity below 1null1011 ohms/square, and a pore size in the range of 100 to 250 pores per inch. The foam may be fabricated (cut or shaped) to form a shaped article, such as a roller, a clean room wipe, a cosmetic applicator or a packaging element.

    摘要: An ester polyurethane foam is prepared by reacting a mixture of one or more polyester polyols with one or more isocyanates and one or more silicone surfactants in the presence of a blowing agent, such as water, and other additives, such as catalysts. The cured foam is chemically treated in a caustic solution to form a hydrophilic ester polyurethane foam having a water absorption rate of at least 20 pounds of water per square foot per minute, preferably at least 25 pounds of water per square foot per minute. The foam also has greater water holding capacity and wet strength than cellulose.
