摘要: An electronic key may include a partial capacitor comprising a capacitive metal plate in communication with a processor. The capacitive metal plate of the partial capacitor is configured to form a capacitor with a corresponding capacitive metal plate of a lock when brought into proximity with the metal plate of the lock. Data may be transferred from the key to the lock using a capacitor formed by combining the two metal plates, wherein a common ground is established between the metal plate of the key and the metal plate of the lock through a parasitic capacitance present between the key and lock circuitry. Audit trail data may be recorded based on usage of the key.

摘要: Electronic locks can provide improved security over mechanical locks. Despite the improved security of electronic locks, there may be occasions where it is desirable to replace the electronic lock. Replacing an electronic lock can be expensive and challenging, particularly if the electronic lock is being replaced by a different electronic lock produced by a different manufacturer. The present disclosure relates to an electronic lock with a replaceable lock core that enables replacing the electronic lock core with a new electronic lock core without needing to replace the entire electronic lock. Further, through use of access controls managed by the electronic lock and electronic key combination, and the unique mechanical configurations disclosed herein, it is possible to replace an electronic lock core without compromising security of a device or location secured by the electronic lock.

Various aspects may be particularly applicable to electrical locks, but they may also be applicable to mechanical locks. A locking device guard can include a guard head, a guard body, and a hinge. The guard head may include a fluid absorber, a frame that is shaped to receive the fluid absorber, and a fastening mechanism. The guard body can be coupled with an electronic lock. The guard body can include an aperture that is configured to expose a face of the electronic lock.

The base includes pins that extend into a cavity of the key holder when the key holder is in a closed position and do not extend into the cavity when the key holder is in an open position. The base includes a finger that prevents users from inserting an electronic key into the key holder when the key holder is in the closed position. The key retention device can receive the portable dock and lock the key holder in the locked position when a user input is received. The user input can be provided to the key retention device to remove an electronic key from the portable dock or to remove the portable dock altogether.
