摘要： A system for generating and displaying graphical information for interactive computer display terminals using graphic display mediums employing a raster pattern, such as a cathode ray tube. The system uses programmable character elements for constructing graphic characters in such manner that they are highly adaptable for display by conventional television monitors. Each graphic character is constructed by the character elements in an individual cell pattern and a plurality of these adjacently located cell patterns render a continuous graphic diagram. All of the cells which make up the graphic diagram are of the same size and typically eight dots by twelve dots and a plurality of graphic element or font types may be used in these cells to generate the various graphic characters. One form of traphic element cell pattern generates the graphic characters in individual cells by means of a plural-point pattern and preferably a six-point pattern and in another form the graphic elements generates the graphic character by means of a plural-bar pattern and preferably a four-bar pattern. The system includes a mimic style keyboard along with cursor controls which are used to create the continuous graphic diagram. An eight bit word representing each character is loaded into a buffer or scanned storage and after a complete diagram has been composed a page representing this diagram may then be loaded into a permanent storage. The system is operable in an origination mode, a storage mode, a presentation mode and a modification mode. A unique programmable read-only memory and associated logic including a unique gating structure permits the display of alpha-numeric data generated at an alpha-numeric keyboard, along with the display of the above mentioned graphic character patterns.

摘要： A system for storage and retrieval of information including address messages and data messages on a multi-track magnetic tape. The data messages are preferably present in the form of audio information. The address messages are derived from a series of location derivation codes which are generated through pulse counts from the spool of a tape transport to verify the location of a message on the tape. These location derivation codes are processed in a remote terminal to form an index thereof and are utilized in retrieving the address messages and the data messages associated therewith from the tape by searching for and selecting the address message which corresponds to the location of the associated data message on the tape. The tape is generally advanced at high speed movement in the searching operation, and the speed thereof is reduced during recording and retrieval operation.

摘要： A method and apparatus for displaying information on the screen of a monitor which permits the simultaneous display of a first character and a second character in a single raster location on the screen of a monitor, and hence the overstriking or modifying of a first character with a second character in a single raster location on the monitor. In one form of the invention which involves a field sequential operation, a character generator will permit the alternate display of information from two separate memories in a single raster location by super-imposition of the characters in the raster location on the monitor. In another form of the present invention, involving line-sequential operation, a pair of character generators are employed and each operate in conjunction with each of a pair of memories and the characters thus generated in each character generator is combined in a mixer and displayed in the superimposed fashion on the screen of a monitor.
