    Abstract: Systems for generating microwave plasma from a combustion flame. The present invention provides a microwave plasma nozzle that includes a hollow cylindrical housing through which combustible material flows, and a rod-shaped conductor disposed in the housing. A portion of the rod-shaped conductor extends into a microwave cavity to receive microwaves passing in the cavity. The rod-shaped conductor transmits microwaves along the surface thereof, and has a distal end disposed in proximity to and surrounded by a proximal end portion of the housing. During operation, a combustion flame is formed in proximity to the proximal end portion of the housing, and the microwaves transmitted along the surface heat up the flame to generate plasma in proximity to the distal end of the rod-shaped conductor.

    Abstract: A translation system for translating source text from a first language to target text in a second language. The system comprises a translation memory (TM) module that stores translation segments. The TM module is operable to generate a TM target text output in response to source text. A statistical translation machine (SMT) module is configured to generate translations on the basis of statistical models whose parameters are derived from the analysis of bilingual text corpora. The SMT module is operable to generate a SMT target text output in response to source text. An extractor is configured to extract features from the TM target text output and the SMT target text output. A vector generator is configured to generate a vector with a unified feature set derived from the extracted features and features associated with the SMT module and the TM module. A recommender is operable to read the vector and determine whether the TM target text output or the SMT target text output is optimum for post editing.

    Abstract: A method for enhancing source-language coverage during statistical machine translation. The method including receiving an input string in a source language for translation into a target language. Extracting a paraphrase representation of the input string from a data repository comprising a corpus. Generating a word lattice structure using a directed acyclic graph representation having a plurality of nodes with edges extending there between. The words of the input string and the extracted paraphrase representation each having a respective edge in the directed acyclic graph. Labelling each of the edges with a word and a probability, the probability weighing assigned to the edges associated with the words of the input string being higher than the probability assigned to paraphrases derived from the input string.
