摘要： A positioning device in a printer, for positioning an index motor for a type wheel selectively in an operative position in which the motor shaft is coupled to the type wheel, or an inoperative position in which the motor shaft is disengaged from the type wheel. The index motor is supported by a motor holder on a carriage of the printer such that the motor and the holder are movable between the two positions. The motor holder is biased toward its second or inoperative position. The positioning device includes a stopper fixed to the carriage, a pivotal support fixed to the motor holder, and an operating lever which includes as integral parts thereof: a base portion; a pivot portion adjacent to the base portion, at which the lever is supported by the pivotal support pivotally in a plane parallel to a direction of movements of the motor holder; an operator-controlled operating portion; a first abutment portion engageable with the stopper to hold the motor holder in the first position; a second abutment portion engageable with the stopper to hold the motor holder in the second position; a spring portion for biasing the lever in a direction that causes the first and second abutment portions to engage the stopper.

摘要： A repeat spacing mechanism for typewriters wherein there are rotatably mounted a feed pawl and a hold pawl on a pawl shaft coaxially therewith; normally the hold pawl engages a toothed wheel rotatably urged by a spring drum for moving a carriage in the letter feed direction. Further provided is an elastic member made of piano wire which is operated by a repeat space key, said member being provided with a weight at its free end. During depression of the repeat space key, the elastic member acts on the feed pawl, thereby causing the feed and hold pawls to be alternately engaged with and disengaged from the toothed wheel and the carriage to perform a continuous repeat spacing movement in the letter feed direction at a speed controlled by said weight.

摘要： A cyclic sewing machine comprising a first cam disk for actuating a motion control mechanism to control the start and stop of a sewing machine and a thread cutting mechanism at the end of a cycle corresponding to a prescribed number of stitches; and a second cam disk for imparting the feed movement to the work clamp mechanism with a number of stitches equal to an integral multiple of said prescribed number of stitches, wherein the motion control mechanism and thread cutting mechanism are brought to an inoperative state until just before the second pattern cam disk imparts a one cycle feed movement to the work clamp mechanism, thereby permitting the very easy change of a number of stitches used in one cycle.

摘要： An interlocking apparatus for power operated typewriters to prevent depression of more than one key lever simultaneously comprises a number of balls located under the array of key levers and bellcrank levers corresponding to each key lever and pivotable about a fixed axis from an inoperative position to an operative position in which the lever is engaged with said balls. The lever is pivoted into the operative position by a trigger in the type actuating mechanism upon depression of the key lever and is pivoted back to the inoperative position by a reciprocating member in said type actuating mechanism after the initiation of the reciprocating movement of the member.

摘要： When a dot is formed apart from other dots on a print medium, in response to a discontinuous print command, a first drive waveform is used. The first drive waveform includes an ejection pulse and an ink droplet reducing pulse for retrieving a portion of an ink droplet about to leave the nozzle. When a dot is formed to overlap other dots on a print medium, in response to one of continuous print commands, the second drive waveform is used. The second drive waveform includes an ejection pulse and an ejection stabilizing pulse for suppressing residual vibrations generated by the ejection pulse. By selectively using the first or the second drive waveform, an ink droplet smaller than 20 pl can be ejected stably even at high printing frequencies. As a result, high-quality, high-speed printing can be achieved.

摘要： A hand-operated typewriter with a segment shift mechanism has several key lever shafts supported on a frame in several rows at different heights and at different distances from the front or operator side of a frame (the type being towards the rear side of the frame) for pivotally mounting key levers, the number of shafts being more than the number of key rows. The key levers corresponding to the keys which are positioned in an outer part of each row of keys (i.e., away from the center or inner part of the typewriter) are pivotally supported on a shaft which is disposed at a position higher than the shaft on which the key levers corresponding to keys positioned in a center part of each row are supported, so as to make the strokes of all the keys depressions uniform.

摘要： For reading or memorizing a pattern perforated in rows in a card, pattern-reading members having pointed ends in a row are successively fed from a first to an arbitrarily selectable last row of the irregular perforations making up the pattern. The thus memorized pattern is conveyed to needle-selecting members including pattern plates which have projections formed at constant spacings thereon. Some of the pattern plates associated with those of the pattern-reading members which correspond to the perforations in each row are operated to select needles that are required for the knitting operation in accordance with the pattern, the selected needles being urged to their operative positions by the projections on the pattern plates.

摘要： A sewing machine so designed as to cause an arm shaft to be subject to different drive controls according to the operating position of a selection knob, though a controller may be continuously depressed in the same manner, wherein, under the first operating position of the knob, the depression of the controller effects continuous normal stitching and the release of the controller brings the arm shaft to rest at a predetermined angular position; under the second operating position of the knob, the depression of the controller causes the arm shaft to make one rotation and be brought to rest at a predetermined angular position regardless of the succession of the depression of the controller; and under the third operating position of the knob, the bobbin winder is actuated with the arm shaft kept inoperative at a predetermined angular position independently of the depression of the controller.
