摘要： An adapter assembly for adapting a portable cellular telephone to receive an external replacement antenna or an external direct feed connection includes an adapter element and a retention element. The adapter element includes an antenna receiving bore at one end, and a positioning member at the other end, and further includes a latching member operable between first and second operative positions. The retention element includes a base cap with an extending actuator that biases the latching member into the second operative position where the adapter element is in engagement with body of the telephone.

摘要： A Planar Inverted F Antenna (PIFA) is disclosed comprising a radiating element and a ground plane positioned on a bottom cover. A Radome is positioned over the radiating element and the ground plane with the bottom cover and the Radome enclosing the radiating element and the ground plane. The ground plane is positioned below the radiating element and a conductive shorting strip extends between one end of the radiating element and one end of the ground plane. A feed lead extends from one side of the radiating element and has a base portion which protrudes outwardly of the Radome for connection to the center conductor of a RF power feeding cable. The radiating element includes a first horizontally disposed portion, a second horizontally disposed portion, and a substantially vertically disposed portion extending therebetween. The first substantially vertically disposed portion of the radiating element functions as a first capacitive loading plate with the second horizontally disposed portion of the radiating element functioning as a second capacitive loading plate. A dielectric block is positioned between the second horizontally disposed portion of the radiating element for providing dielectric loading to the radiating element.

摘要： A snap-in stubby or retractable antenna comprising a plastic snap-in connector which is secured to the upper end of a wireless communication device, such as a cellular telephone. The connector includes an alignment keyway which cooperates with an opening formed in the upper end of the housing of the communications device so that the connector may only be installed in the device in one position so that the contact spring associated therewith will be in engagement with the electrical contact pad of the receiving and transmitting circuitry of the device. A flexible latch is provided on the connector which is deflected inwardly as the connector is installed into the telephone, but which snaps outwardly into engagement with a shoulder in the interior of the communications device to yieldably maintain the connector, and the antenna associated therewith on the handset of the communications device.

摘要： This invention presents new and alternative design techniques of single feed Dual/Tri ISM band PIFA for wireless system applications. To attain the advantages of and in accordance with the purpose of the present invention, dual and/or tri ISM band PIFA antennas are provided. In particular, an antenna comprises at least a ground plane, a radiating element, a short, and a feed tab. The short provides a connection between the ground plane and the radiating element. The feed tab connected to the radiating element provides RF power and provides initial impedance match. While the feed tab provides initial impedance match, additional impedance match and frequency control are obtained by the inclusion of one or more of a parasitic element, a slot, tuning stubs, and capacitive elements.
