Abstract:
A slat for use in a rolling shutter is provided. The slat comprises a hooking track located at a first edge of a body and a receiving track located at a second edge of the body. Illustratively, the hooking track has a hook-shaped profile, and the receiving track comprises a lip member and a guard member defining a space adapted to receive therein an engaging track of an adjacent slat. The hooking track and the receiving track are designed to minimize the space required for the rolling shutter to be retracted around a spindle.
Abstract:
An the illuminated handlebar for a bicycle comprises a hardened metal core comprising at least one elongated element, a translucent polyurethane exterior disposed over at least a portion of the hardened metal core, a portable DC voltage source coupled to a portion of the hardened metal core, wherein the voltage source is configured for installation and removal by a hand of a user without the use of tools, a plurality of light emitting diode (LED) units conductively coupled to the voltage source, wherein the plurality of LED units contact at least a portion of the polyurethane exterior such that light emitted forwardly therefrom generally travels along the polyurethane exterior, a switch for turning the plurality of LED lights on and off, and a fastening element coupled to the hardened metal core for coupling to a stem of a bicycle.

Abstract:
The present invention is directed to a rolling protective shutter having an improved manual drive mechanism. The improved manual drive mechanism may include a hand crank pole having a female connector that demountably attaches to a male connector of the rolling protective shutter to rotate a drive shaft. The female connector may be attached to the hand crank pole by a universal joint so that the female connector may pivot relative to the hand crank pole. A resilient alignment mechanism, such as an elastomeric sleeve or coil spring, may be disposed on and engage the universal joint to axially align the female connector with the hand crank pole while allowing the female connector to pivot relative to the elongated pole section when a force is applied.
Abstract:
Apparatus, methods, and systems for centrally and uniformly controlling the operation of a variety of devices, such as communication, consumer electronic, audio-video, analog, digital, 1394, and the like, over a variety of protocols within a network system and, more particularly, a control system and uniform user interface for centrally controlling these devices in a manner that appears seamless and transparent to the user. In a preferred embodiment, a command center or hub of a network system includes a context and connection permutation sensitive control system that enables centralized and seamless integrated control of all types of input devices. The control system preferably includes a versatile icon based graphical user interface that provides a uniform, on-screen centralized control system for the network system. The user interface, which includes a visual recognition system, enables the user to transparently control multiple input devices over a variety of protocols while operating on a single control layer of an input command device. In an alternative embodiment, the control system also enables gated signal pass-through control while avoiding signal jamming.
