The invention provides a novel catalase which is cloned from Bacillus theremoglucosidasius. The invention further provides a process for preparing catalase in high yield, which comprises constructing expression vectors and transformant cells with catalase genes cloned from microorganisms using genetic engineering technology, and obtaining the expression product. The invention also provides a novel recombinant plasmid and a novel transformant cell constructed in the process.In addition, the invention provides a composition for decomposing hydrogen peroxide contained in the residual disinfectant on contact lenses, which comprising the novel catalase of the invention.

The invention relates to nucleic acids containing a nucleotide sequence encoding a polypeptide, the polypeptide having (1) the P2 and P3 regions of a swine vesicular disease virus polyprotein, and (2) an amino acid sequence heterologous to the polyprotein. The invention also includes methods of preparing such nucleic acids (e.g., RNA or DNA expression vectors) and methods of using such nucleic acids to express RNA or protein.

The present invention relates to a gene of swine vesicular disease virus (SVDV) and the mutant strains of the gene, and the expression plasmids, the preparation process thereof. The invention also relates to a vaccine for use in the prophylaxis of swine vesicular disease composition containing the mutant strains. Furthermore, the invention provides a process for differentiating mutant strains of SVDV from the wild type strain of SVDV, coxsackievirus and foot-and-mouth disease virus by polymerase chain reaction.
