摘要:
A method and apparatus for handling a Session Initiation Protocol message in a communications network. When a network node receives a Session Initiation Protocol message, which comprises Request-URI header, the node rewrites the Request-URI header in the SIP message, and adds information to the SIP message useable by a remote node to determine the current target address of the message. The SIP message is then sent to a further node. In this way, the remote node that receives the message can determine the current target in the SIP message, even if the target has been re-written in the Request-URI as the result of, for example, a translation or re-routing operation.

A method and apparatus for establishing a communication session in an IMS Centralized Services communication network. A Service Centralization and Continuity Application Server (SCC AS) receives a request from an originating device to establish a session with a target device. The request includes a plurality of codec identifiers that could be used by the originating device. The SCC AS sends a second request to establish the session to the target device. The SCC AS subsequently receives, from an intermediate node between the SCC AS and the target device, an invite message. The invite message includes an indication that a codec identifier has been selected from the plurality of codec identifiers. The SCC AS then sends a message to the intermediate node instructing the intermediate node to establish the session.

A method of operating a Session Controller is provided. The Session Controller communicates with a client (40) and comprises a signalling proxy (10) and a media proxy (20), the Session Controller being latched to a media plane address and port. The method comprises: detecting, at the signalling proxy, that the client is changing or has changed its IP address and/or port to a different address and/or port; instructing the media proxy to monitor for incoming media from the client of an address and/or port different from the address and/or port that the media proxy has been using previously as the address and/or port of the client; and if any media is received by the media proxy of such a different address and/or port, using said different address and/or port as destination address and/or port for media from the media proxy to the client. A corresponding Session Controller, and a signalling proxy and a media proxy for use in such a Session Controller are also disclosed.

A method of sending information from a Session Initiation Protocol intermediate node to a first Session Initiation Protocol terminal. The method comprises, upon receipt of a session initiation request at the Session Initiation Protocol intermediate node, establishing a first Session Initiation Protocol dialog between the Session Initiation Protocol intermediate node and the first Session Initiation Protocol terminal, sending information over said first dialog, forwarding said request from the Session Initiation Protocol intermediate node to a second, destination Session Initiation Protocol terminal, before, during, or after establishment of said first dialog, and establishing a second Session Initiation Protocol dialog, between the first and second Session Initiation Protocol terminals.
