摘要: The disclosed techniques allow for externalizing errors from an implantable medical device using the device's charging coil, for receipt at an external charger or other external device. Transmission of errors in this manner is particularly useful when telemetry of error codes through a traditional telemetry coil in the implant is not possible, for example, because the error experienced is so fundamental as to preclude use of such traditional means. By externalizing the error via the charging coil, and though the use of robust error modulation circuitry in the implant designed to be generally insensitive to fundamental errors, the external charger can be consulted to understand the failure mode involved, and to take appropriate action.

摘要: A method for providing an authentication of a user of a computer system in a network is disclosed. The method comprises capturing biometric data of a user; encrypting and signing the biometric data with a private key and sending the encrypted and signed data to a central server in the network. The method further comprises accepting and verifying credentials associated with the signed and encrypted data from the server utilizing the public key from the server. The method further comprises installing the credentials into the computer if the credentials are verified. In a method and system in accordance with the present invention, a user can walk up to any client within an enterprise and have their locally captured biometric input authenticated at a central server. The user can then have their individual credentials securely imported to the local client for subsequent use during that time period, without needing any additional identification or memory token such as a smartcard.

摘要: A data processing system and method are described for creating a virtual partition within an existing partition within a hard disk drive included within the system. A first master boot record is written which includes a partition. The partition defines a first file system to be utilized by the hard drive. A file is created within the partition. The first master boot record is temporarily overwritten with a second master boot record without altering the first file system. The second master boot record includes a designation of the file as a second partition. The second partition defines a second file system. The second partition is designated as the active partition. The data processing system is booted utilizing the second master boot record. The second partition is a virtual partition within the existing partition.

摘要: Described is a computer system which can be pre-set over a network to boot to a first or second remote boot protocol prior to being powered on over the network. The system is coupled to a remote computer via a data communication link. The system includes a communication subsystem for communicating data with the computer system. The communication subsystem is supplied with auxiliary power and is operative to communicate with the computer system regardless of whether the computer system is in a normal operating state. The remote computer includes a program for sending a first packet to the computer system via the communication link. The first packet contains a boot parameter which is indicative of the first or second remote boot protocol. The computer system is operative to receive the first packet via the communication subsystem and store the boot parameter in a memory thereof without powering on. The memory is accessed by BIOS during a network boot sequence and the system will boot in accordance with the specified boot protocol stored in the memory.

摘要: A system and method for authorizing and tracking a modification to a medical device are provided. The modification may be an installation of software or firmware, an upgrade of software or firmware, an enablement of a feature, and/or a disablement of a feature. The system includes a server for generating and transmitting an authorization key before the modification can be performed. The system also includes a device for generating a confirmation key and transmitting the confirmation key to the server after the modification has been performed. The server is configured for updating a database with information regarding the modification performed on the medical device. In this manner, the system avoids performing unauthorized modifications to a medical device and efficiently traces authorized modifications made to the medical device.
