摘要： A mineral or other materials working machine or implement has an adjustable mounting means for a mineral or other materials working tool. Means is provided for adjusting said mounting means to cause said tool to penetrate or be set into a mineral or other materials face, by a predetermined amount so that as the tool is moved therealong a web or lamina of mineral or other material is removed from said face. Means is also provided for adjusting said mounting means to set the angle of attack of the tool on the mineral or other materials face. The two tool-mounting adjusting means are interconnected so that an adjustment of the mounting means to alter the angle of attack of the tool does not materially alter said predetermined penetration or setting of the tool into the mineral or other materials face. In one preferred embodiment adjustment of the mounting means to set the angle of attack of the tool takes place angularly about a working point or edge of the tool. The means interconnecting the two tool-mounting adjusting means may comprise a lever-and-link system the effective dimensions of which are selected, in relation to the tip, point or edge of a chisel or like tool, so as to provide for adjustment of the angle of attack of the tool whilst substantially maintaining the predetermined penetration or setting of it into the mineral or materials face. A pressurefluid ram, for causing the tool to penetrate or be set into the mineral or other materials face by a predetermined amount, may form an element in said lever-and-link system.

摘要： A mining or excavating machine comprises a carriage or selfpropelled vehicle having mounted on it an extensible and maneuverable boom which carries a pressure fluid operated impact tool for breaking down or excavating mineral or other material. The machine also includes a conveyor which is attached to the carriage or vehicle and has a portion which is positioned in front of the carriage or vehicle, so as to collect material mined or excavated by the impact tool, and a portion which extends rearwardly alongside the carriage or vehicle and is adapted to convey the collected material. A pressure fluid ram or rams may be provided for advancing, relatively to the carriage, the portion of the conveyor which is positioned in front of the carriage or vehicle so that said portion will pick-up or collect material on a mine floor ahead of the machine.

摘要： The invention is for an impact tool comprising a pressure fluid operating piston and cylinder device in which pressure fluid, for the cyclic operation of said device, is controlled by control means responsive to changes in fluid pressure brought about by relative reciprocatory movement between the piston and cylinder. In one preferred embodiment of the invention said control means comprises a valve means for controlling the supply of pressure fluid to the cylinder, for the retraction of the piston, and for controlling the exhausting of said pressure fluid from the cylinder, for the advance of the piston, a chamber or chambers connected to the cylinder so that a fluid therein will be subjected to pressure changes by movement of the piston, and means responsive to pressures in said chamber or chambers and operative cyclicly to switch said valve means between a pressure fluid supply position and a pressure fluid exhaust position. Conveniently said chamber or chambers is or are connected to the cylinder so that the fluid in said chamber or chambers will be compressed by retraction of the piston. The pressure fluid, for the operation of the tool, may be a liquid and the fluid in the chamber or chambers, which is compressible, may be a gas. Alternatively the pressure fluid, for the operation of the tool, may be a compressible liquid and the fluid in the chamber or chambers a similar compressible liquid.

摘要： An extensible boom, particularly for mounting on a mobile rock breaking or mining machine, comprises an extensible member mounted for rotation about an axis extending in the direction of its length, a non-rotatable extensible member operative to impart extension to said rotatable member of the boom, means for extending the non-rotatable extensible member of the boom and means on said rotatable member of the boom for mounting a rock breaking or other tool thereon so that said tool operates on an axis which is different to said axis of the rotatable member of the boom and is movable relatively thereto. In one preferred arrangement the tool is supported on a tiltable turntable pivotally mounted on the forward end of the boom.

摘要： A device for mounting a rock breaking or like impact tool on, for example the jib of an earth working machine, comprises a cradle having means whereby it may be attached to such a jib, a carriage for the tool, means supporting said carriage in the cradle and arranged to permit a limited degree of oscillation or reciprocation of the carriage in the direction of oscillation or reciprocation of the tool, and means operative to cushion or damp such oscillation or reciprocation of the carriage. In one preferred embodiment of the invention the frequency of the damping or cushioning material differs from the operating frequency of the tool. Conveniently the damping or cushioning material has a hysteresis characteristic.

摘要： A vehicle carries an extensible boom rotatable about a horizontal and vertical axes. The end of the boom arm carries a universally articulated rock breaking tool mounting means. The vehicle has two ground engaging sole plates carrying hydraulic rams for raising the remainder of the vehicle from the floor to enable the vehicle to be advanced by a pair of advancing rams which are independently operable to enable the vehicle to be steered. The raising rams act on pivotal links which have rollers at their free ends to bear on an underneath surface of the chassis. The sole plates are in open-bottomed channel-like parts of H-section beams whose upper parts are sealed and act as sumps for hydraulic fluid and as radiators to dissipate heat. Control of the boom is from either side of the vehicle by means of a changeover valve. Control of advancing and reversing movement of the vehicle is from the front or rear of the vehicle.
