    摘要: The method and apparatus of the present invention provides real-time reorientation of stored data and real-time visualization for high resolution volumetric datasets from an arbitrary designed viewing direction. The apparatus includes a modularized memory having a plurality of memory modules wherein each memory module includes a plurality of memory storage units capable of storing voxel data therein. The apparatus also includes reorientation unit coupled to each of the plurality of memory modules for simultaneously receiving voxel data from memory storage units of each memory module. The reorientation unit simultaneously provides the voxel data corresponding to a first memory storage unit to a second memory storage unit according to a desired viewing direction. The apparatus further includes fetching unit coupled to each of the plurality of memory modules for simultaneously retrieving voxel data from the plurality of memory modules according to the desired viewing direction and projection unit coupled to the fetching unit. The fetching unit provides the projection unit with voxel data retrieved from the plurality of memory modules. The voxel data retrieved by each projection ray includes a plurality of voxel attributes indicative of the characteristics of the object. The projection unit generates a projection value corresponding to the cumulation of voxel attributes. The projection value is indicative of the opaqueness of the aggregate of voxel attributes for each projection ray. The apparatus includes display unit coupled to the projection unit for displaying the projection value.

    摘要: A video compression system is provided. An encoder may encode video that is decoded by a decoder. The video may be made up of video frames. The decoder may generate approximated display frames for viewing on a display device based on corrected reference frames. The corrected reference frames at the decoder may be created based on approximated reference frames generated based on model state information and based on difference frames provided by the encoder. The encoder may create the difference frames by subtracting approximated reference frames from exact reference frames. The exact reference frames may be created based on a model of a three-dimensional virtual reality environment. The encoder may create the approximated reference frames based on corrected reference frames that are generated based on the difference reference frames.

    摘要: A method by which a client and a server cooperate to render views of a virtual reality world within which a user of the client navigates. The server sends the client a reference view and a model to use to extrapolate the reference view in response to the user's virtual movement. The client sends the server a record of the user's virtual movement. Both the client and the server perform the model-based extrapolation of the reference view. The server also performs an exact update of the reference view. When the extrapolated reference view deviates too much from the updated reference view, the server sends the client the difference between the extrapolated and updated reference views, so that the client can update its reference view.

The method relies on an image-based technique that transforms a target volume to align with a reference volume. The transformation is composed of a coarse rigid transformation and a fine elastic warp.
