Abstract: A capacitor has a first side and an opposite second side. The capacitor also includes a first conductive member having a first planar surface and a first side edge, a first electrical connection extending from the first conductive member adjacent the first side. A second conductive member has a second planar surface. The second planar surface is spaced apart from and parallel to the first planar surface of the first conductive member. The second planar surface and the first planar surface define a space therebetween. The second conductive member also includes a third planar surface that is spaced apart from and disposed parallel to the second planar surface opposite from the first planar surface. A second electrical connection extends from the second planar surface adjacent the first side. The second conductive member also includes an electrically conductive portion, disposed adjacent the second side, electrically connecting the second planar surface and the third planar surface. A polymer electrolyte is disposed in the space defined by the first planar surface and the second planar surface. The polymer electrolyte is in contact with at least a portion of the first planar surface and at least a portion of the second planar surface.

Abstract: A power source (10) , preferably in the form of a battery pack, comprises a battery (14), an electrochemical capacitor (16), and a switch bridge (18). The capacitor increases the power delivery capability of the battery for periodic power bursts, increases it's life, and is electrically connected in parallel with the battery through a number of switches. The switch bridge is used to periodically reverse the orientation of the capacitor with respect to the battery to alleviate electrical stress on the capacitor.

Abstract: Image sensing apparatus includes an image pickup plate disposed generally orthogonally with respect to an expected direction of movement of an object, such as a finger, multiple image drive plates in spaced relation to the image pickup plate to define sensor gaps between respective image drive plates and the image pickup plate, and a reference plate disposed substantially parallel to the image pickup plate. The reference plate is spaced from the image pickup plate to permit common mode noise and coupling to be cancelled and is spaced from the image drive plates to permit a differential image signal to develop between the image pickup plate and the reference plate. A differential amplifier coupled to the image pickup plate and the reference plate provides noise cancellation. The apparatus may further include a comb plate spaced from the reference plate and coupled to a reference potential, such as ground.
