Abstract:
A hybrid satellite communications system provides communications, particularly Internet access, to computer users. The hybrid satellite communications system includes a satellite system and a terrestrial communications system. The satellite system includes two transceivers. The first transceiver receives and transmits a first set of signals received from the terrestrial communications system to a plurality of user units. In reverse fashion, the satellite systems second transceiver receives a second set of signals in a second frequency band from the user units and transmits those signals back to the terrestrial communications system. The first set of signals (downlink signals) are of much higher frequency than the second set of signals (uplink signals). Preferably, the first set of signals are relayed by a Direct Broadcast System (DBS) satellite in a frequency band between 12.2 GHz and 12.9 GHz, while the second set of signals are relayed by a Mobile Satellite System (MSS) satellite operating between 1.0 GHz and 3.0 Ghz, or relayed by a terrestrial node operating between 0.8 and 2.0 Ghz. The differences in frequency between the first set of signals and second set of signals is considered optimal for the transmission and receipt of communications between a computer user with the Internet. Moreover, the present invention is capable of using the present communications infrastructures dedicated to the satellite transmission of television via DBS satellites, satellite cellular communications via MSS satellites, and radio communications via terrestrial cellular systems.
Abstract:
A wall mounted back-scrubbing and massaging apparatus has a wall mounting plate which is bonded to a rubber sheet having a plurality of suction cups, thereby allowing the wall mounting plate to be removably attachable to a wall surface. A sponge mounting box is mounted on the wall mounting plate by a lip. Opposite the lip, the sponge mounting box provides a base and a peripheral edge, which together form a sponge mounting surface. In a first embodiment, the base and the peripheral edge removably engage a sponge. A plurality of outwardly extending fingers integral with the base, penetrate the sponge, further securing the sponge onto the base. The sponge is thus supported in spaced relationship with respect to the wall surface by the sponge mounting box so as to be in a position for convenient scrubbing of a person's skin when brought into contact with the sponge. In a second embodiment, the mounting box further includes a cover which frictionally engages the sponge mounting box, clamping a flexible lateral apron portion of a rectangular cloth, holding the cloth over the base. The cover and the sponge mounting box further provide drain apertures to allow water to drain from the apparatus.

Abstract:
Process to generate a water based adhesive by mixing a re-dispersible powder adhesive and water, optionally together with other components, characterized by mixing a re-dispersible powder adhesive, water and optionally other components such that the final water based adhesive contains a re-dispersed powder adhesive in an amount of about 0.5% to 80% by weight and has a Brookfield viscosity (23° C./20 RPM) from about 10 to 250000 mPas, wherein : the mixing is carried out as a micro-batch or a continuous process with a volume of the mixing chamber of about 0.001 to 200 litres and with a mixing time of about 0.01 to 500 seconds, and the ratio of the diameter of at least one mixer blade to the diameter of the mixing chamber is about 0.50 to 0.99.
Abstract:
A feed device (10) for feeding blocks (40) of adhesive into a glue melt tank (6), comprising a magazine (12) divided into a plurality of segments (14), each segment (14) adapted to contain a block (40) of hot-melt adhesive; a plate (16) below the magazine (12) having an aperture (18) substantially the size of a segment (14); an side wall (24) surrounding the magazine (12); drive means (37) for moving either the magazine (12) of the plate (16); and indexing means (36) to control the drive means (37) so that each segment (14) is brought in turn into alignment with the aperture (18) in the plate (16).
Abstract:
Apparatus for dispensing viscous liquid, such as hot melt adhesive, including an automated adhesive conveyance (e.g., pneumatic transfer) feed unit, a heated melt tank, a pump, heated hose, dispensing valve, and control unit. The adhesive unit is specifically designed to run at maximum temperature of 275° F.
Abstract:
A keyboard is provided having illuminating keys. The keyboard includes a light channeling membrane and key members constructed at least partially of translucent material so that light produced from a light source is channeled upwardly to the upper surfaces of the key members. The light source may include LED or LEC systems in adjoining relationship to the light channeling membrane or light pipe. In a preferred embodiment, the light source is constructed of a substantially planar illuminescent sheet which underlies the light channeling membrane. In an alternative preferred embodiment, a light pipe is constructed to illuminate light laterally along a portion of its length to illuminate a plurality of key members.
