    摘要: Methods and apparatuses are provided that can be utilized for accurate pre-aiming and installation of devices. The devices are pre-set to an aiming orientation relative to a universal reference plane. The reference plane is then correlated to a feature of a pole, tower, or other structure that will be used to elevate or suspend the devices. A position sensing subsystem is utilized to inform a worker when each device is correctly angularly oriented to the reference plane. The worker simply moves the mounting structure for the device to the correct three-dimensional angular orientation, uses the position sensor to confirm the correct orientation to within a highly accurate margin of error, and either locks the device in that orientation or marks the orientation. The pole, tower, or other elevating structure is then preliminarily erected at its pre-designed location and pre-designed rotational orientation with the pre-aimed devices.

An apparatus according to one aspect of the invention comprises a portable base, a laser on the base adapted to project a laser beam in a plane, and a means to identify measured points from the base. The measured points can be relative to the projected plane from the laser. The portable base can be moved to different reference points relative to the area to quickly set up a grid of accurate lines or points in the area.

    摘要: A capillary electrophoresis separation matrix for single-stranded nucleic acids, along with methods for using and preparing the matrix, are disclosed. The separation matrix provides denaturing conditions and contains hydroxyethyl cellulose (HEC) in combination with urea, and preferably also includes formamide. The separation matrix may be used for DNA sizing and sequencing applications and provides a single-base resolution to approximately 500 base pairs. The separation matrix is inexpensive, easy to prepare, requires no polymerization steps, and is of low enough viscosity to be pumped easily into and out of capillary tubes for electrophoresis. The low viscosity allows for high throughput of samples and reuse of the capillary tubes for numerous separations.
