    摘要: A fiber optic device for providing a visual indication when a subassembly, such as an electronic "ATR box", is in place in a rack mounting arrangement with its electrical connections firmly mated with the corresponding rack connections within a small predetermined tolerance. A special fiber optic connector has first and second parts, one of which is attached to the ATR box and the other mounting in the rack for mating concurrently with the mating of the electrical connections. A number of such devices may be provided in a rack of equipment, each fixed rack mounted connector being supplied with a light signal via a length of fiber optic conductor, preferably from a common light source. Within the ATR box unit itself, another length of fiber optic conductor connects the fiber optic connector to the front panel or some other location for convenient observation. In one of the mating connector parts, a slit diaphragm prevents any appreciable transfer of light between the optical fibers of the connector parts until said diaphragm is penetrated and deflected by the opposing optical fiber during the last relatively small increment of movement into the mating operation.

The termination ends (24b, 24c) of second and third contacts are each bent to extend through a slot (66b, 66c) in the body so while the contact mating end (e.g. 22b) lies in a row (1) at one side of the body, its termination end (24b) lies in a row (6) at the other side of the body.

    摘要: A self-locking electrical connector is disclosed in which a locking ring is mounted in an annular groove in the interior of a coupling nut on the plug of the connector. When the plug is mated with the receptacle, inwardly extending projections on the locking ring ride up over a low-angle ramp on the shell of the receptacle and then snap into a locking groove formed in the receptacle shell behind the ramp to lock the connector members together. The surface of the locking groove next to the low-angle ramp is formed as a high-angle ramp which allows removal of the projections of the ring from the groove when the coupling nut is rotated with high torque to unthread from the shell. In an alternative embodiment, the locking ring is carried by the receptacle shell, and the locking groove and angular ramps are formed on the inner surface of the coupling nut.

    摘要: A printed circuit board connector is disclosed wherein the pattern of the wire-wrap posts of the contacts in the connector is different from the pattern, and the spacing, of the contacting sections of the contacts which engage the printed circuit board. The bottom of the connector is in the form of a substrate containing plated-through holes which receive printed circuit board engaging contacts without wire-wrap posts, as well as feed-through contacts which are offset from the other contacts and joined thereto by conductive traces on the substrate. A second set of printed circuit board engaging contacts having wire-wrap posts may be provided wherein the contacting sections of the printed circuit board engaging contacts of the connector are positioned more closely than the spacing between the wire-wrap posts of the connector.

    摘要: An electrical connector having a zero insertion force upon mating of a first connector member and a second connector member. Each of the connector members contains contacts mounted in bores formed therein. The contacts in one of the connector members extend forwardly from the bores. A split insulator member in such connector member forms a pair of actuating plates. A rotatable actuating shaft is disposed between the plates and carries an actuating cam which, when the shaft is rotated, shifts the actuating plates apart to mate the contacting surfaces of the contacts in the respective connector members. The actuating shaft carries a pin at its forward end which cooperates with an inclined ramp in the second connector member to cause the connector members to shift axially relative to each other upon actuation of the movable contacts thereby producing an axial wiping engagement between the associated contacts in the two connector members.

    摘要: A connector for an IC memory card having a printed circuit member mounted within the housing of the card which extends into a slot opening at the edge of the card. The connector contains two rows of contacts which are engageable with conductive traces on the opposite sides of the printed circuit member when the card is inserted into the connector. The contacts in the connector are reversely bent to form inner arms joined to outer arms by nose portions. The inner arms of the contacts in the two rows are normally spaced apart a distance greater than the thickness of the printed circuit member so that when the card is initially inserted into the connector, the noses of the contacts will pass freely over the border of the printed circuit member. Thereafter, the sidewalls of the housing of the card cam the outer arms of the contacts inwardly, forcing the inner arms into engagement with the traces on the printed circuit member in the card.

    摘要: An insulation displacement connector is disclosed which is particularly adapted for use with flat cable having closely spaced conductors. The termination end of each contact in the connector is partially bent about a vertical axis providing an intermediate curved portion and a pair of elongated side edges. The side edges of each contact engage a conductor of the cable at two longitudinally spaced locations thereon while the intermediate curved portion of the contact, which is preferably coated with an insulation material, supports the adjacent conductor of the cable.
