    摘要: An adsorbent system including a body having or defining a channel therein, wherein the body is configured to be coupled to a humidity-controlled environment such that a first end of the channel is in selective fluid communication with the ambient environment and such that a second end of the channel is in fluid communication with said humidity-controlled environment. The system further includes an adsorbent material in the channel, wherein the channel and adsorbent material are configured such that inlet fluid flowing from the first end to the second end through the channel is flowable over the adsorbent material, and such that outlet fluid flowing from the second end to the first end is flowable over a majority of the adsorbent material that is flowable over by the inlet fluid. The system also includes a valve system positioned at or adjacent to or in fluid communication with the first end of the channel.

    摘要: This invention relates to a desiccant cartridge (10) adapted for use in a canister (14) of an integrated receiver/dryer or accumulator assembly of an automotive air conditioning system wherein the canister (14) has an offset inlet port (16). The desiccant cartridge (10) includes a desiccant cup (18) having a center tube (36) and a desiccant cap (12) including a planar portion (44) having a recessed port area (46) provided with a first aperture (56), or first tube (72), for cooperation with a side tube (78) and/or the offset inlet port (16) of the canister (14). The cap (12) further includes a docking piece (80) provided with a second aperture (88), or second tube (92), for cooperating with the center tube (36) of the cup (18) when the cap (12) is retained therein. Notably, the docking piece (80) is designed to cooperate with the recessed port area (46), preferably via a snap fit, to define a passageway (98) therebetween so that gas and/or fluid can enter the canister (14) via the inlet port (16), circulate through the desiccant cartridge (10), and finally exit via an outlet port (126).

    摘要: A desiccant cartridge retention device used to secure desiccant cartridges (10) to fluid flow tubes (12) and/or canisters (14) of receiver/dryer and accumulator assemblies (78). Desiccant cartridge (10) includes a cup (16) extending along an axis (20) and having spaced inner and outer wall portions (18, 22) connected by a transverse portion (24) to define a chamber (26) having an opening (28) for receiving desiccant particles (30). The inner wall portion (18) defines a sleeve (36) having first and second openings (37, 38) and further comprises an outer surface (40) and an inner engagement surface (42). The sleeve (36) is adapted to receive and the inner engagement surface (42) is adapted to cooperate with fluid flow tube (12) such that the desiccant cartridge (10) is secured thereto forming a proper seal therebetween. Outer wall portion (22) includes a flange adapted to provide a snug compression fit within canister (14) such that the desiccant container (10) also is secured thereto. A cap (44) is secured to the cup (16) to secure the desiccant (30) inside the chamber (26).

    摘要: An adsorbent system including an enclosure having a cavity defining a humidity-controlled environment and a body having or defining a channel therein. The body is coupled to the enclosure such that a first end of the channel is in selective fluid communication with an ambient environment and a second end of the channel is in fluid communication with the humidity-controlled environment. The system further includes an adsorbent material in the channel, wherein the channel and adsorbent material are configured such that inlet fluid flowing from the first end to the second end through the channel is flowable over at least a portion of the adsorbent material, and such that outlet fluid flowing from the second end to the first end is directly flowable over a majority of the portion of the adsorbent material that is flowable over by the inlet fluid, The system further includes a valve system positioned at or adjacent to or in fluid communication with the first end of the channel. The valve system includes an inlet valve portion that is biased to a closed position to generally block a flow of inlet fluid therethrough and that is movable to an open position when a pressure in the channel is sufficiently low relative to a pressure in the ambient environment. The valve system further includes an outlet valve portion that is biased to a closed position to generally block a flow of outlet fluid therethrough and that is movable to an open position when the pressure in the channel is sufficiently high relative to the pressure in the ambient environment.

    摘要: A desiccant container (2) which comprises a generally cylindrically cross-sectioned cup, two dual-density fiberglass discs (6, 8), desiccant material (4), and a cap (16). The cup includes an outer annular portion, an inner tubular portion, and a bottom which connect together to define a space within. The cap (16) has a planar portion with an aperture for receiving the inner wall portion of the cup and is designed for receipt in the chamber to cover the opening. The cap further includes an outer annular rim portion extending transversely from the planar portion. The peripheral flange portion having tabs with an edge portion which permit the cap to cooperate with the outer wall portion having tabs with an edge portion which permit the cap to cooperate with the outer wall portion so that the cap can be retained within the chamber in one of a number of axially spaced positions to prevent shifting of, and escape of the desiccant.

    摘要: In accordance with one preferred embodiment, a desiccant cartridge (30) for insertion into an integrated condenser/receiver (10) comprises a rigid stand-off member (72) and a porous desiccant bag (34). The preferred rigid stand-off member comprises spaced inner and outer pad portions and an elongated stand-off portion terminating in the inner pad portion. The inner pad may include a tab portion. The porous desiccant bag is positioned between the inner and outer pad portions and affixed to one or both of the inner and outer pad portions. A rigid cap with a plurality of holes may be provided to which a second end of the porous desiccant bag may be attached. The porous desiccant bag includes first and second flat end seals, one of which is secured to attachment tab portions.
