    摘要: A desiccant cartridge retention device used to secure desiccant cartridges (10) to fluid flow tubes (12) and/or canisters (14) of receiver/dryer and accumulator assemblies (78). Desiccant cartridge (10) includes a cup (16) extending along an axis (20) and having spaced inner and outer wall portions (18, 22) connected by a transverse portion (24) to define a chamber (26) having an opening (28) for receiving desiccant particles (30). The inner wall portion (18) defines a sleeve (36) having first and second openings (37, 38) and further comprises an outer surface (40) and an inner engagement surface (42). The sleeve (36) is adapted to receive and the inner engagement surface (42) is adapted to cooperate with fluid flow tube (12) such that the desiccant cartridge (10) is secured thereto forming a proper seal therebetween. Outer wall portion (22) includes a flange adapted to provide a snug compression fit within canister (14) such that the desiccant container (10) also is secured thereto. A cap (44) is secured to the cup (16) to secure the desiccant (30) inside the chamber (26).

    摘要: In accordance with one preferred embodiment, a desiccant cartridge (30) for insertion into an integrated condenser/receiver (10) comprises a rigid stand-off member (72) and a porous desiccant bag (34). The preferred rigid stand-off member comprises spaced inner and outer pad portions and an elongated stand-off portion terminating in the inner pad portion. The inner pad may include a tab portion. The porous desiccant bag is positioned between the inner and outer pad portions and affixed to one or both of the inner and outer pad portions. A rigid cap with a plurality of holes may be provided to which a second end of the porous desiccant bag may be attached. The porous desiccant bag includes first and second flat end seals, one of which is secured to attachment tab portions.

    摘要: A desiccant containing cartridge (10) has a cap (12) and a generally cylindrically cross-sectioned cup (14) for holding desiccant particles (16) and a dye wafer (18). The cup (14) includes spaced inner and outer wall portions (20, 24) connected by a transverse portion (28) to define a chamber (30) having an opening (32) for the placement of a dye wafer (18) and desiccant particles (16). The cap (12) has a planar portion (52) having outer circumference (53) and inner circumference (54) defining aperture (55) for receiving inner wall portion (20) of the cup (14) and being designed for receipt in chamber (30) to cover opening (32). Cap (12) further includes a peripheral flanged portion (56) extending transversely from planar portion (52), and having tabs (100) with an edge portion (102) which permit cap (12) to cooperate with outer wall portion (24) so that cap (12) can be retained within chamber (30) in one of a number of axially spaced positions to prevent shifting of dye wafer (18) and desiccant (16), thereby leaving a substantial portion of desiccant (16) uncontaminated and useful for LOI testing.

The desiccant package includes an internal cage component which is enclosed inside a porous desiccant-containing bag. The internal cage component comprises an enlarged diameter base unit and sealing section to seal and support the desiccant package inside the dryer chamber. The desiccant package can be inserted into the condenser dryer at initial assembly of the air conditioning unit or as a replacement item when the original desiccant is fully saturated.
