摘要: What is presented is a system and method by which a visually impaired worker could easily and quickly navigate menu options on touch screen displays. An Audible Feedback ON/OFF Switch is provided which turns the audible feedback feature of the present invention on or off. The software monitoring which row/column areas of the touch screen's display grid have been touched by the user in response to a menu option selection is made switchable into one of two modes. A first mode is when the audible feedback feature is OFF or otherwise disabled. In this mode the software operates the touch screen's menu selections in the normal manner in which the machine is intended to perform. When a user selects an option, the option is immediately activated whether it be a machine activity or a jump to another level of menus. A second mode is when the audible feedback feature has been turned ON or otherwise activated. In this mode a two step process is activated such that when a user makes a first touch of a menu option a sound or voice is audibly played indicating the nature of the particular menu option just selected. A second consecutive touch of the same menu option then actually activates the machine activity associated with that particular menu option.

摘要: A system for the secure physical attachment of a second device to a first device is disclosed comprising a first and second inter-connection attachment means in physical association with each device. The second inter-connection attachment means physically mates with its corresponding first inter-connection attachment means. Additionally, means for detecting the physical mating of each of the first and second inter-connection attachment means is provided. The detecting means is preferably associated with at least one of the devices and in communication with each of it's associated device's inter-connection attachment means. Means are provided for determining that the first and second inter-connection attachment means have been securely mated and, if not, means are provided for indicating the status of the completion of the secure attachment there between. A controller is used for halting at least one of the devices in the event that the attachment there between has not been secured and for receiving additional instructions from an end-user.

摘要: In a production, fax or printing system, collection stations are sometimes obscure to the user. This invention provides a first sensor connected to a light source that illuminates this collection station when a product or copy is present so that the presence of the product or copies to be collected is apparent to a user. A second sensor turns off the light source after a preset period of time so that the light doesn't stay on indefinitely.

摘要: In a duplex printer with automatic duplex printing by recirculating the sheets printed on their first sides through a duplex path for printing their second sides before feeding them to the output path, electronic information corresponding to a pre-set maximum level of acceptable sheet weight for that printer is compared to a remote user job input with electronic information corresponding to the desired sheets to be printed. If exceeded, the printer automatically switches to a different duplex printing mode in which the heavyweight sheets are printed on only one side and fed to the output path, and a GUI at the printer automatically displays instructions to unload these simplex printed sheets and properly reload them in an input in the correct orientation to print their opposite sides with locally stored page images for those opposite sides, and printing is restarted at the printer rather than the remote job input site.

摘要: A multi-function device is arranged to perform a plurality of functions. Each function includes a plurality of parameters. Each parameter has a current value from a plurality of parameter allowed values. Each parameter current value is preset to a default value and the device's current function is preset to a primary function. Dedicated user function buttons are provided to modify the device's current function to a desired function as needed for a particular job. Once the desired function is selected, the device is further arranged with dedicated parameter buttons so the user can select one or more parameters and then modify the selected parameters' current values as needed for the job. After running the job with the modified current function and the modified parameter current values, the modified parameters are reset to their default values and the device's current function is reset to the primary function.

摘要: An identification apparatus comprises an array of conductive pins fixed onto a base component placed onto a primary device and in communication therewith. A set of shaped identifiers has a plurality of holes through which respective pins on the array of fixed pins pass. Each identifier is uniquely configured with at least one distinct location containing a conductive sleeve fitted therein which allows the passage therethrough of that particular pin for further use by subsequently placed identifiers. Each pin is in individual communication with the primary device such that the primary device can thereafter identify the placed identifiers so as to subsequently perform certain functions or other desired operations based on the type, configuration, and/or number of identifiers placed thereon.

摘要: An identification apparatus and method comprising an array of retractable pins in association with a housing attached to a base component through which each pin individually passes. The apparatus is attached to a primary device and in communication therewith. Each retractable pin is in individual physical contact with tension springs positioned below the pin and located in a containment sleeve within the housing. Each spring continuously exerts pressure on the base of their respective pins so as to push the pin up through the base component. At the base of each spring is a pressure sensitive pad in communication with the primary device. A set of shaped identifiers each having a plurality of holes through which respective pins on the array of retractable pins pass and each identifier uniquely configured with at least one distinct location containing a plug or ‘cap’ fitted therein which blocks the passage therethrough of that particular pin thereby forcing said pin to retract into the base component's housing underneath and exerting pressure on the pin's associated spring. Once one or more identifiers have been fitted onto the array of retractable pins, the primary device thereafter identifies the placed identifiers by each identifier's plug location and by the amount of pressure exerted by each spring's pressure sensitive pad. Once individual identifiers are known, the primary device can subsequently perform certain functions or other desired operations based on the type, configuration, and/or number of identifiers placed thereon.

摘要: A method and user interface which enables the setting of a variable value feature, having a plurality of values associated therewith, wherein the plurality of values include a default value and a plurality of non-default values. The method and user interface displays a first value associated with a user selected variable value feature and changes the displayed first value associated with the selected variable value feature by a predetermined amount so as to display a second value associated with the selected variable value feature by a user engaging a user activatable area associated with the selected variable value feature. The method and user interface determines if an annotated message is associated with the displayed second value associated with the selected variable value feature and displays the annotated message associated with the selected variable value feature along with the displayed second value associated with the selected variable value feature when it is determined that the displayed second value associated with the selected variable value feature has an associated annotation message.
