Abstract: A casting process sand core composition including sand particles (grains) and a binder material. Both substantially spherical sand grains and substantially non-spherical grains may be present. The size of the sand grains is preferably held within a preselected and controlled range, and the size distribution by weight percentage of the sand grains within the grain size range is also controlled. The present invention also contemplates methods of making a sand core from such a composition, and methods of making a casting with a die that uses a sand core made from such a composition.
