摘要: A method is disclosed to assist users of telecommunication equipment to improve the likelihood that the party receives and comprehends their speech. The method involves quantifying the quality of speech at both the point of reception and transmission, and then communicating this information to the transmitter who is speaking. To the extent that the background noise at the speaker or listener location is so large as to decrease the signal to noise ratio, or other parameter related to the comprehensibility of speech, to an unacceptable level the speaker may choose to reduce the background noise, or speak loader to increase the signal. Likewise, to the extent that the communication system itself generates unacceptable noise, the speaker may choose to speak loader to increase the signal. However, as the speaker is made aware of the quality of perception at the listener, they need not speaker loader than necessary for the listener to comprehend their speech.

摘要: A droplet generator for a continuous stream ink jet print head has a cavity for containing ink, and nozzle orifices passing ink from the cavity to form jets. An actuator means vibrates the ink in the cavity such that each jet breaks up into ink droplets. The actuator means is disposed on the opposite side of the cavity to the nozzle orifices, and a surrounding wall of the cavity extends between the actuator means and nozzle orifices for containing the ink therebetween. The surrounding wall has inner and outer constituent wall. The resistive component of the wave impedance of the outer wall passively damps vibration of the inner wall by dissipating its vibration; the reactive component of the wave impedance of the outer wall actively restrains vibration of the inner wall, ensuring that each jet breaks up into ink droplets at the same predetermined distance from its respective nozzle orifice.

摘要: A method of forming a superconducting structure is provided that includes forming a superconducting element in a first dielectric layer, forming a protective pad formed from a resistive material over at least a portion of the superconducting element, forming a second dielectric layer overlying the first dielectric layer, and etching an opening through the second dielectric layer to the protective pad, such that no portion of the superconducting element is exposed in the opening. A cleaning process is performed on the superconducting structure, and a contact material fill with a resistive material is performed to fill the opening and form a resistive element in contact with the superconducting element through the protective pad.

摘要: A droplet generator for a continuous stream inkjet print head has an elongate cavity for containing the ink and nozzle orifices in a wall of the cavity for passing the ink from the cavity to form jets. The nozzle orifices extend along the length of the cavity. An actuator is disposed so as to address the face of the cavity opposite the wall to vibrate the ink in the cavity such that each jet breaks up into ink droplets at substantially the same predetermined distance from the wall. The actuator has a plurality of constituent sub-actuators each capable of independent vibration. The combined coverage of the face of the cavity by the sub-actuators is such that the jet break up can be achieved without resonance of the cavity in its dimension from the wall to the face.

The nozzle orifices are disposed at spaced positions along the length of the cavity. An actuator for vibrating the ink in the cavity is provided such that each jet breaks up into ink droplets at the same predetermined distance from the wall of the cavity. The actuator is disposed on the opposite side of the cavity to the wall, includes a vibrator which is divided up along the length of the cavity at least partially into at least two parts, and includes a backing member disposed further from the cavity than the vibrator and secured to and bridging the parts into which the vibrator is at least partially divided. The vibrator is interposed in line between the backing member and the cavity.

摘要: The Primary Plane Orientation Device may be orientated such that the lifting surface, and or propulsion group of the aerial vehicle rotates about an axis through the Primary Plane. The Primary Plane, then, may be orientated at any chosen angular offset from the vehicle axis such that the lifting surfaces can produce thrust at said angle to the vehicle axis. The orientation of the Primary plane may then smoothly transform to other desired angles such that the aerial vehicle remains unstalled during conversion between VTOL-rotary and fixed wing flight. The lifting surface, and/or propulsion groups may then be fixed in any orientation to the axis of the vehicle to produce fixed wing lift, or propulsion in line with the fuselage or at various offsets from the fuselage.

摘要: The system of the preferred embodiments includes a fastener adapted to removably attach to a musical instrument, a blind coupled to the fastener and adapted to obstruct a user's view of the finger portion of the musical instrument, and a joint to couple the fastener to the blind. The system of the preferred embodiment has been specifically designed to obstruct a user's view of the finger portion of the musical instrument. If used properly, the system will train a user of the musical instrument to play without looking at the finger portion of the musical instrument thus aiding in muscle memory and helping the sense of sound by minimizing the use of sight. Furthermore, the blind portion of the instrument can be used as a visual output/input screen for use as electronic sheet music, notes, and communication device to the conductor.
