摘要: A corrugated paperboard, manufactured with a layer of plastic film approximately 1-3 mil thickness, is laminated to the single face liner of single face board in the double-backer. The board has good moisture vapor transmission (MVT) properties for packaging food and chemical products. The film is supplied in roll form and reeved over a dewrinkling roll device to smooth it, then fed onto the single face liner as the single face corrugated is fed into the nip of the double-backer. The lamination of the film is made by the residual heat from the paper and pressure of the double-backer belt in the drying section of the corrugator without adding adhesives or other compounds. The film is a thermoplastic co-extruded polymeric film, e.g. high density polyethylene (HDPE), polypropylene, PET, having a heat seal layer thereon of a copolymer of olefin with Alpha-Beta monoethylenically unsaturated monomer, e.g., ethylene acrylic acid (EAA). The film surface of the manufactured board may be optionally treated with Corona discharge or high velocity flame treatment to oxidize the surface to enhance adhesive bond in later prepared cartons made from the board. The process is applicable to single wall or multiwall corrugated paperboard in making a vapor barrier product having good MVTR.

摘要: An improved hermetically sealed composite container formed by double-seaming a pair of compounded metal ends to extended length flanges on the opposite ends of a can body so that the compound is bonded to an inner liner on the can body to provide an effective seal. The compound material is placed in the seaming panel and curl area of the metal ends so as to provide a more extensive seal area when the metal ends are double-seamed with the extended flanges on the can body. The extended length flanges provide a considerably greater contact area between the can body inner liner and the metal ends when the metal ends are double-seamed to the can body.

摘要: Food cushioning means are provided to cushion and protect a stack of uniformly-shaped units of food product, such as chips, crackers, or cookies, that are shipped in a cylindrical container. A unique, inverted, cup-shaped bottom cushioning member is provided to support and cushion the stack of food product from the bottom. A sleeve of corrugated foam plastic is utilized to surround and cushion the sides of the stack of food product. In another embodiment, the invention provides an integral bottom and side cushioning member, which comprises a unique corrugated foam sleeve with a pair of tab portions folded inwardly near the bottom of the sleeve to support the stack of food product from the bottom.
