摘要： A device is disclosed for stripping insulation from the end of an insulated wire. Four identical insulation blades are provided. One pair of blades is mounted on one pivotable arm while a second pair of blades is mounted on a second pivotable arm. The blades on each arm are inverted relative to each other so that the beveled surfaces of the blades which form the cutting edges face in opposite directions, and the beveled surfaces of the blades of the respective pairs which face in the same direction are opposite to each other. This arrangement provides a balanced pattern of the cutting edges and therefore uniform cutting action on the insulation so that when the insulation is removed from the end of the wire, wire skiving is avoided.

摘要： A tool is disclosed for precisely grinding or polishing the surface of a workpiece, such as the mating end face of a fiber optic ferrule. The tool utilizes a planar grinding wheel which is caused to rotate and simultaneously shift transversely in the plane in which it lies by the use of an eccentric driving connection to the wheel and gear teeth on the outer surface of the wheel and gear teeth on the interior of the chamber in which the wheel is mounted. Such movement of the wheel causes the workpiece to be ground in multiple directions across its face.

摘要： A resilient insulator having a hole therethrough is supported and a first reciprocable mechanism is provided to telescope a hollow cylinder into the insulator hole to stretch the hole to a position larger in cross section. A second reciprocable mechanism is provided to telescope an insulated rod partway into the cylinder and insulator. A third electrically operable mechanism responsive to a contact touching one end of the rod is provided to actuate one of the first and second mechanisms to relieve the insulator in a manner to allow the same to hold the contact fixedly in inward radial compression in the insulator hole.
