Such management allows for the migration of subscriber units (170) from one service area (140) to another (190) without the disruption of service. In addition, initialization of subscriber units (130) may be accomplished over the cable and does not require an operator at the subscriber location.

    摘要: Frequency spectrum management provides for dynamic spectrum usage adjustment among applications on a shared medium. Dynamic resource management methods are applied to the problem of managing spectrum and matching application specific requirements to real-time spectrum characteristics so that more optimal use of the available spectrum may be made. At least a first spectrum agent is assigned to each of the plurality of different applications, for managing channels allocated to the application, and a spectrum manager allocates frequency channels to the plurality of different applications based on the following at least one of parameters of a frequency channel required to implement the application and predetermined requirements based on time of day demand changes for the application.
