Abstract:
In the transmission of a message (LU) from a subscriber station (MS), a cell recognition signal (e.g. CI2) identifying the current radio cell (e.g. C2) in which the subscriber station (MS) is located is transmitted towards the mobile radio system with it and stored in a subscriber database (NVLR) of the mobile radio system. The stored cell recognition signal (e.g. CI2) makes it possible to call the subscriber station (MS) via a radio message to the most recently used radio cell(s) (e.g. C2) and possibly also to its/their neighboring radio cells. This reduces the signaling load on the transmission of the radio message (effective paging) in the area where there are radio cells. It is possible to derive the location information on the radio cell plane, which consists of the cell recognition to identify the radio cell last used by the subscriber station, without any additional signaling load.
Abstract:
Aspects of the present invention relate to methods and entities involved in enabling and improving inter-domain handover. A PS based RAN such as eUTRAN can identify which potential handover to prepare and which handover to initiate, PS-PS or SR-VCC based on: (1) the UE's SR-VCC capabilities, (2) “SR-VCC indication” from the MME, (3) active VoIP bearer, and (4) target cell capabilities.
Abstract:
Disclosed are methods and systems for providing multicast and/or broadcast services in a mobile communication network. In particular, the disclosed methods and systems optimize resource utilization and signaling in packet-based networks.

Abstract:
The invention relates to assigning a mobile communications terminal having a temporary subscriber identity and/or an assigned routing parameter to a core network node of a core network provider when changing from a first to a second core network area. The invention includes coding a maximum of one core network node of the respective core network area with respect to the routing parameter and/or the temporary subscriber identity of the mobile communications terminal; assigning the mobile communications terminal to a core network node of the second core network area according to: assigning to the maximum of one core network node, which is coded with respect to the routing parameter and/or the temporary subscriber identity or; assigning to an alternative core network node if no core network node, which is coded with respect to the routing parameter and/or the temporary identity, does not exist in the second core network area.
Abstract:
When at least one data block is transmitted from a base station to subscriber terminals according to a point-to-multipoint transmission, a request on the signalling of information with respect to the respective reception of the data block to a selected group from the receiving subscriber terminals is transmitted by the base station. At least one subsequent transmission of a data block is initiated by the base station according to information received from the selected group of subscriber terminals.
Abstract:
At least one virtual location area identifier (SG-LAC) that does not correspond to any of the location area identifiers for real location areas in the mobile radiotelephone network is allocated to a packet data service network node (SGSN) with which a packet data service is controlled in the mobile radiotelephone network for the transmission of one or more data packets. This is employed by a mobile switching center for the implementation of the functions in the location area management. As a result thereof, a common and efficient management of location areas (locations areas, routing areas) can be achieved upon involvement of the packet data service in the cellular mobile radiotelephone network without the standard interfaces and procedures for the mobile switching center having to be modified for this purpose.
Abstract:
A service response method, device, and system, and relate to the field of mobile communications, which provides conditions for implementing optimized transmission of small-packet data and reducing the waste of network signaling resources. The service response method includes: receiving, by a user equipment, downlink data or a downlink message, where the downlink data or message is small-packet data; selecting a signaling mode or data mode as a mode of responding to the downlink data or message; and responding to the downlink data or message by using the selected mode. The technical solutions provided in the present invention are applicable to a scenario where a UE responds to a service.
