摘要： Continuous superimposed webs are interlocked together along opposite marginal edges by sets of superimposed tongues provided in the webs which interengage to effect an interlock. Each set includes at least a pair of superimposed tongues disposed along a line forming an angle with an adjacent marginal edge so that one of the tongues is staggered relative to the other in the direction of feed of the webs through a web processing machine. Thus, during separation of the plies in the direction of feed the forwardmost superimposed tongues are separated before the rearwardmost tongues thereby avoiding simultaneous separation of the tongues and decreasing the resistance offered by the tongues upon ply separation.

摘要： A set of manifold business forms includes at least three plies having selected mating surfaces thereof coated with chemicals which are capable of reacting with one another to produce a colored mark. An intermediate ply of the set is of tissue material having its back surface coated with a color precursor in the form of a microencapsulated liquid, and the bottom ply of the set is of an opaque material having its front surface coated with a composition of a generally solid record-developing material. The top ply of the set is likewise of an opaque material so that, upon the application of pressure to the set, an image thereof is developed on the top surface of the bottom ply. The use of a coated-back tissue avoids capsular damage during the printing operation of the forms since all that is printed is a coated front sheet.

摘要： Method and apparatus are provided for forming an envelope wherein front and rear panels of an envelope are incorporated in continuous or discrete webs or sheets. Heat activatable adhesive is applied to three peripheral edge portions of one of the envelope panels in facing engagement with the other of the panels. The webs or sheets are fixed together and fed into a printing machine such as a table or desk top laser printer wherein the heat fusing rolls of the printer are utilized to activate the heat activatable adhesive to thereby secure the envelope panels together to form an envelope pocket. One of the envelope panels incorporates a sealing flap portion which may be provided with a rewettable adhesive pattern, while the facing portion of the opposed sheet may be provided with an antistick composition to prevent premature sticking between the sheets in the area of the sealing flap.
