摘要: A running tool is disclosed to deliver tools downhole, preferably supported on a wireline. The running tool will not release the downhole tool before the desired depth is reached, even if an obstruction is encountered. The tool has the ability to release upon application of pressure in the wellbore. The tool features a floating piston with a pre-charged chamber on one side. Hydrostatic pressure acts on the opposite side of the floating piston as the running tool descends. When the downhole tool reaches its desired depth and becomes supported, slacking on the wireline traps the hydrostatic on one side of the floating piston. Applied wellbore pressure, acting on a release piston exposed to the trapped hydrostatic on its opposite side, shifts the release piston and releases the running tool from the downhole tool. On the way uphole, the trapped hydrostatic pressure is released.

摘要: A perforating gun system having a relief system for relieving high pressure during unexpected high temperature or situations that may produce rupture of the gun body. The relief system may be responsive either to high temperatures as well as high pressures. In the high temperature situation, the relief system has a fuseable link that melts thereby allowing movement of a piston to open vent communication between the inside of a gun body in the ambient conditions. Similarly, a pressure device includes a piston responsive to pressure that moves under high pressure within the gun body thereby exposing a port enabling communication between the inside of the gun body and the ambient conditions.

摘要: A pair of ram blocks are provided such that when they are actuated hydraulically to move together, they present an opening which has a series of gripping members downwardly biased. Removal of tubulars or tools from the well bore works against the bias to retract the grippers so that removal can be accomplished. However, if there is an accidental release, the bias pushes the grippers toward the tubular or tool to grip it to prevent loss into the well bore. The ram blocks can be retracted for run-in to the well bore.
