摘要: A self-orienting swivel of a downhole tool and method. The swivel includes a top sub, a bottom sub, and a bearing assembly. The bearing assembly includes a bearing housing, bearings, and a lock member. The bearing housing has an uphole end operatively connectable to a second end of the top sub and a passage therethrough shaped to receive a bearing end of the bottom sub. The bearings are rotatably positioned in the passage of the bearing housing between the bottom sub and an inner surface of the bearing housing. The lock member is positioned in the passage of the bearing housing, and is fixedly connectable about the bottom sub. The lock member is receivably positionable in a receptacle of the top sub and rotatably movable therein whereby the bottom sub is rotatably positioned about the top sub.

摘要: A wellbore gun assembly includes a chuck assembly for assembling a wellbore gun. The chuck assembly includes a chuck housing, a rotating gun chuck, and an axial gun chuck. The gun chucks have chuck jaws radially movable about a hole in the gun chucks to selectively grip a portion of the wellbore gun. The holes of the gun chucks are aligned to define a passage for receiving the wellbore gun therethrough. The rotating gun chuck is rotationally positioned about the axial gun chuck to selectively rotate the portion of the wellbore gun as the axial gun chuck moves axially about the axial gun chuck whereby the portions of the wellbore gun are threadedly connected together. The chuck assembly also includes a gantry loader loads gun components onto a feed assembly, and the feed assembly feeds gun components into the chuck assembly.

摘要: A charge assembly includes a charge tube, shaped charges, and propellant charges. The charge tube is positionable in a downhole perforating tool. The shaped charges and the propellant charges are receivably supported in the charge tube. Each of the shaped charges includes a charge jacket and a charge material. The charge material has a detonation rate of greater than one microsecond. Each of the propellant charges includes a propellant jacket and a propellant material. The propellant charges have a detonation rate of less than one microsecond. An uphole portion of the propellant charges are positioned uphole from the shaped charges and a downhole portion of the propellant charges are positioned downhole from the shaped charges. The shaped charges are positioned between the uphole and the downhole portion. The shaped and the propellant charges are electrically connectable to a detonator for activation thereby.

摘要: The invention includes methods for stimulating a hydrocarbon-bearing formation by perforating a wellbore and introducing an acidic composition in the wellbore. A preferred embodiment includes inserting an isolation plug in the wellbore at a predetermined location followed by inserting a perforating tool and a breakdown acid into the wellbore. The wellbore is perforated by the tool to create a perforated area. The breakdown acid is allowed to come into contact with the perforated area for a predetermined period of time sufficient to prepare the formation for stimulation. The tool is then removed from the wellbore wherein stimulation of the perforated area is thereby initiated. Also disclosed is a corrosion inhibiting composition for use with the acidic composition.
