Abstract:
There is provided a dispersion apparatus for use with a solid fuel burner. The dispersion apparatus comprises a passage through which particulate material may flow toward an outlet region for dispersal therefrom, the flow being at least in part rotational about the longitudinal axis of the passage. The dispersion apparatus also comprises a downstream guide means arranged within the passage at or near the outlet region, the downstream guide means configured to at least reduce the rotational motion so that the flow progresses toward the outlet region in a substantially uniform manner in a direction aligned with a longitudinal axis of the passage.
Abstract:
A method for the maneuvering of a vessel, such as a dredge, stacker, barge or wet concentrator plant, the vessel having provided thereon at least four winches from which winch ropes extend to anchor points located remotely from the vessel, the winches being operable to maneuver the vessel, wherein at least one winch is kept under a defined torque whilst three winches are utilized to control the movement of the vessel. A maneuvering control system for implementing the method of maneuvering described is also disclosed.

Abstract:
The present invention relates to a system and method for monitoring, in real time, the electric current that passes through each one of a plurality of single cathodes or anodes forming an electrolytic cell. The system comprises a plurality of sensor means including Hall Effect sensors. The sensor means are arranged for current measurement and thermal drift correction. Such sensors are located in a sensor bar which includes a protecting shield which provides magnetic shielding and also prevents corrosion. The present invention enables a more accurate measurement of the current of each electric unit within the electrolytic cell (cathode or anode) by using a ferromagnetic barrier acting as a magnetic shield in order to reduce the effects of magnetic fields adjacent to the target one and by correcting the measurement based on heat factors that may alter the measurement.
Abstract:
A measuring apparatus, for measuring the distance to a surface having fluctuating reflectivity, the measuring apparatus comprising, a measuring light source and sensor unit positioned at an angle to the perpendicular of the surface to allow the light to be reflected to a diffuse target surface in a known position; and a processor unit, wherein the processor unit is adapted to collect and analyze data from the a measuring light source and sensor unit and classify whether the reading of the measuring light source and sensor unit is a direct reading or a reflected reading.

Abstract:
An anti-segregation mixer for a bed of material, the anti-segregation mixer comprising: an elongate and substantially cylindrical shell having an inner surface; and a plurality of independent lifting means provided within the shell, wherein the plurality of lifting means each comprise a vane with a leading end and a trailing end, and are arranged with respect to the cylindrical shell such that the vane is spaced apart from the inner surface and the entire lifting means may pass through the bed of material.
