摘要： An angularly and vertically adjustable head rest which is secured to a back rest of a motor vehicle seat. The heat rest may be immobilized in a desired height position by locking mechanism disposed entirely within and surrounded by the foam plastic cushion of the head rest. For height adjustment a first locking mechanism may be released by lateral pressure applied against one edge portion of the head rest and for tilting adjustment a second locking mechanism may be released by pressure applied to the opposite side edge of the head rest.

In a head rest attachment for a car front seat, padded framework 5, 6, 7 is rotationally fast with a shaft 4, which can be displaced axially by moving the whole framework 4, 5, 6, 7, to free it from angular adjustment. Disc 8 is fast with shaft 4 and, when the framework 4, 5, 6, 7 is slid to the right, against the action of spring 11, stationary pins 9, 10 are withdrawn from the holes in the disc. The pin and hole mechanism may be replaced by intermeshing gear segments or pinions. It is also possible for the attachment of the head rest to extend inside the seat, to an arrangement providing a height adjustment.
