摘要: An apparatus and process are disclosed for scraping excess coating substance from a running web by moving the web past a scraper blade that is oriented transversely to the running direction of the web. The blade is pressed against the web with a variable force. A motor automatically moves the blade to maintain the angle between the scraping surface thereof and the web approximately constant when the force varies, preferably by rotating the blade about an axis which is located near the scraping surface, is transverse to the running direction of the web and extends generally parallel to the blade direction of extension across the web. The amount of movement of the blade that is necessary to maintain the angle constant is preferably determined by monitoring either the thickness of the coating on the web or the degree to which the force on the blade deforms the blade from an undeformed shape. The automatic system can preferably be disabled to permit the blade angle to be set at a selected value manually.

摘要: The method produces a flat spiral link assembly from at least four synthetic resin monofilament helices wound winding to winding which are simultaneously supplied for meshing engagement. Before being meshed the helices are stretched to at least three times their length and are thermoset in stretched condition. The alternatingly right-hand and left-hand helices are caused to mesh in zipper fashion and are interlocked by pintle wires. In order to facilitate the insertion of the pintle wires the helices are extended by about five percent. The apparatus for performing the method comprises two feed rolls forming a first roll nip through which helices are passed to a heating chamber. Draw-off rolls withdraw the helices from the heating chamber at least at three times the peripheral speed of the feed rolls. The apparatus also comprises a shunt for joining the helices and a device for inserting the pintle wires.

摘要: A papermachine fabric for the production of tissue paper or porous batts has a two layer fabric comprised of a fine upper fabric layer and a coarser lower fabric layer. Both fabric layers have a large open area. The two fabric layers are firmly interconnected so that the upper fabric layer exhibits depressions at the sites of interweaving which are distributed in the manner of a pattern. The papermachine fabric is especially suited as an embossing fabric for after drying the paper web coming from a sheet forming fabric or as a second sheet former of a twin wire former.

摘要: A coating apparatus for coating a moving web is disclosed. A scraper element is provided, transverse to the direction of travel of the web, for scraping excess coating material therefrom. The scraper element has three positions: a rest position, in which it is relatively distant from the web; a ready position, in which it is maintained a short distance from the surface of the web, preferably about 1 mm; and an operating position, in which it is pressed against the web. A positioning member includes a first subsystem for moving the scraper element from the rest position to the ready position and a second subsystem for moving the scraper element from the ready position to the operating position. The second subsystem preferably contains a pneumatic pressure element, and the first includes either a pneumatic or a hydraulic pressure element. The two subsystems are connected to each other in series. Adjustable stops are preferably provided to limit the motion of the scraper element toward the web, thereby defining the operating position. In the preferred embodiment, independently adjustable stops are provided at both ends of the scraper edge, so that the pressure of the scraper element on the web can be made to vary across the width thereof.
