摘要： A control for a mining machine having means for traversing a ground surface and a universally-pivotal carrier arm of variable length which carries at its forward end a cutter drum. A displacement pickup is responsive to forward or aft movement of the cutter drum with respect to the ground surface. Means are connected to the displacement pickup for producing a first signal when said cutter drum has moved forwardly in an amount substantially equal to its length and for thereafter producing a second signal when the cutter drum is moved backwardly in an amount equal to a fraction of its length. These signals are used to control forward or aft movement of the mining machine over the ground surface, or extension or retraction of the variable length carrier arm, to remove ribs in the side walls after a cut has been taken from the mine face area, these ribs resulting from the shape of the cutter drum and its angularity with respect to the mine roadway side walls.

摘要： Apparatus to advance a multi-unit mining machine along a face conveyor in an underground mine includes a hydraulic unit with an advancing mechanism that extends around a toothed rack. The rack extends over the length of machine movement. The hydraulic unit is an independent unit on a machine body of the mining machine and is used for increasing the advancing force provided by other existing advancing units for the mining machine. The hydraulic unit is narrower than the other units on the machine body and is attached by vertical flanges to adjacent units on the machine body. The hydraulic unit receives a winch casing between oppositely-disposed flanges for guided vertical movement of the casing. The casing has pins extending in the direction of machine movement from opposite top portions thereof to engage with members that slide vertically between guide bars on the flanges for vertical mobility. Clearances between the parts provide limited horizontal mobility.

摘要： A cutter drum for longwall mining machines and the like of the type comprising a rotatable member having cutting bits disposed on its outer periphery and arranged to rotate about an axis extending parallel to a mine floor, the drum being movable along a longitudinal face to produce a cut extending back into the face as the drum rotates and advances. Nozzles are carried on the end of the drum at the back of the cut for spraying high-pressure liquid into the material being mined to loosen and dislodge the same. This has the advantage of eliminating cutter picks at the back of the cut and materially reduces the generation of fines and dust in this area.

摘要： Track sections are attachedto the working face side of a face conveyor to form a track for a mining machine. The track sections have a rolled profile forming an L-shaped cross section with upright limbs pivotally interconnected at their ends by projecting sections of coupling plates facing the mine face to receive a chain link. A bead projects toward the mine face on the top of the upright limb to prevent collisions between the mining machine and the parts for pivotally interconnectng the track sections. The bead overlies the major part of an inclined surface of a transition section extending from the upright limb to a thickened lateral limb projecting toward the mine face for supporting the mining machine.

摘要： A drum cutter-loader machine includes discrete units joined together by tie bolts extending transversely to the direction of advancing movement along a face conveyor. The units in succession from the stow side to the working side include a gantry casing supporting winch drive motors and straddling the face conveyor, a transmission box, a winch casing and casing carrying actuators coupled to arms carried by pivots at opposite ends of the winch casing. The arms carry cutter drums driven by motors supported by the arms. A toothed rack at the working face side is engaged by drive wheels driven through gearing in the winch casing and transmission box by the winch motors. The gantry casing is supported at the stow side through runners that engage a guide rail. In one embodiment, the machine is supported by rollers at the working face side on the toothed rack. In a further embodiment, the machine is supported by rollers at the working face side on a machine track.

Driving pin extensions extend outwardly from the vertical arm in cantilever beam relationship near the upper edge of the vertical arm and have vertical widths less than the height of the vertical arm. One of the arms of the L-shaped configuration is provided with studs which engage guide block means on the mining machine for guiding it along the track and gear rack. The invention facilitates good guidance of the mining machine along the track and gear rack without impeding the flow of mined material onto the face conveyor.
