When the lever 30 is pivoted to the starting position or the ending position, a tip thereof is supported by the supporting member 40 or 44, respectively, thereby protecting this tip from contact with other components, etc. The supporting members 40 and 44 protrude into dead space relative to the position of the housing 20. Consequently, no extra space is required when the housing 20 is placed in position, yet the lever 30 has increased length and angle of travel.

A miniaturized lever is provided for an electrical lever type connector having a moving plate to support protruding terminals. Recesses are provided on cam pins of a moving plate and these fit together with cam pins of a female connector housing. As a result, the cam pins of the moving plate and female connector housing are unified, and in this unified state are then fitted in a cam groove of a lever. Consequently only a single cam groove is required, compared to the prior art where two cam grooves corresponding to the two cam pins are necessary.

A connector is provided in order to enhance a tactile sensation by providing a restoring force to a lock piece and further to attain an original locking function at the fitting of both a male and female connector housing. A dome covering the upper edge of a lock piece is formed on a female housing, and an arm which protrudes rearwardly and which can be elastically deformed is affixed to the dome. A projecting contact part protrudes downwardly at the end of the arm and closely contacts the upper edge of the lock piece. When the male and female housings are interfitted, a gaff part on the lock piece engages a protrusion on the male housing and swings upwardly, and in accordance with it, elastically deforms the arm by pushing the projecting contact part. When the male and female housings are normally interfitted, the lock piece restores to its original position and is locked by engagement of the gaff part with the backside of the protrusion. The lock piece forcefully restores to its original position by receiving the restoring elastic force of the arm, therefore causing the end of the gaff part to snap onto the upper face of the male housing to generate a loud sound and an enhanced tactile sensation.

A first sealing ring (51), for sealing the space between the moving plate (40) and an outer circumference face of the female housing (10), is formed on an attachment base of an inner circumference face of an anterior end (42A) of the side wall (42). A second sealing ring (52), for sealing the space between the moving plate (40) and in inner circumference face of the posterior end (42B) of the side wall (42). These sealing rings (51) and (52) are formed in a unified manner, by means of two-component molding, on the moving plate (40).

A connector includes first and second connector housings which are fitted together. A seesaw or lever-type lock piece is provided in one of said connector housings and a hooking part is provided on the other connector housing for being hooked by a first downward projection of the lock piece. A detecting member is mounted for free sliding movement along the upper face of the lock piece. After a fitting operation of both housings is carried out, the detecting member is pushed forwardly. When the connector housings are in an incomplete fitted position or state, since the first downward projection is mounted on the hooking part and the lock piece is in an oblique position, the pushing of the detecting member is prevented and an incomplete fitted state is detected. When the detecting member is further pushed in, one of the housings is pushed in with the lock piece and is properly fitted. The detecting member is retained just at the position of the front end of the lock piece and the connector housings are thereby double locked.
