摘要： A method and apparatus for operating the user interface of a slider type portable mobile communications device is disclosed. A mode of operation of the slider type portable mobile communications device is determined. Motion of a slider mechanism is detected with respect to a neutral position. The motion of the slider mechanism indicates an action to perform based on the mode of operation of the portable mobile communications device. The action indicated is then performed based on the mode of operation of the portable mobile communications device.
