    摘要: A large-scale display device having a plurality of display units which each include a plurality of elongated plasma tubes each filled with a discharge gas, and at least one pair of display electrodes disposed outside the plasma tubes, voltage applying means which applies a drive voltage to the display electrodes to cause electric discharge in the plasma tubes for display.Vertically adjoining ones of the display units respectively have adjoining portions which are offset thicknesswise from each other for prevention of contact between the plasma tubes of the vertically adjoining display units. The voltage applying means is disposed away from the adjoining portions of the vertically adjoining display units.

    摘要: A plasma arc tube display is fabricated by arranging a plurality of arc tubes having fluorescent substance layers on the inside and filled with a discharge gas, joining a front substrate and a rear substrate having electrodes to both surfaces of these arranged arc tubes, and interconnecting a plurality of plasma arc tube modules having frames facing the rear substrate with the flexible front substrate interposed therebetween to connect the electrodes installed on the front substrate to each other. Since the plasma arc tube modules can be folded, the plasma arc tube display can be easily transported even if it has a large-sized screen.

    摘要: In accordance with an aspect of the present invention, a color display device (10) includes a plurality of gas discharge tubes disposed side by side. The gas discharge tubes have respective phosphor layers (4R, 4G, 4B) of different materials for different colors disposed therein and containing discharge gas therein. Each of the gas discharge tubes has a plurality of light-emitting points disposed along the length thereof. The color display device further includes a plurality of display electrodes disposed on the display screen side of the gas discharge tubes, and a plurality of signal electrodes (3) disposed on the rear side of the gas discharge tubes. Voltage control layers (6R, 6G, 6B) are disposed between the phosphor layers and the signal electrodes. The voltage control layers are made of materials which change firing voltages applied between the display electrodes and the signal electrodes. The materials of the voltage control layers are selected for the different materials of the different phosphor layers so as to minimize the difference of the firing voltages for the plurality of gas discharge tubes.

    摘要: A light emitting portion and an electrode board including electrodes for driving the light emitting portion for light emission are provided as separate members. This allows the light emitting portion to have a smaller thickness, and widens the choices of substrate materials for the electrode board. Therefore, a flexible material can be used for the electrode board, thereby imparting the display device with flexibility. Further, the light emitting portion and the electrode board can be separately produced, so that the degree of freedom is increased in the production of the display device. Therefore, the light emitting portion and the electrode board can be produced in different steps or in different production lines. Further, the light emitting portion, the electrode board and other components can be individually evaluated for quality, thereby reducing the production costs of the display device.

    摘要: In an AC-driven gas discharge display device and especially a plasma tube array type, a return path is provided for alternate discharge current flowing between X and Y driver circuits. The AC-driven gas discharge display device comprises a front-side, transparent substrate and a rear-side substrate sandwiching therebetween a plurality of thin discharge tubes arranged side by side; a plurality of pairs of display electrodes on an inner surface of the front-side substrate; and a plurality of address electrodes, in a direction transverse to the plurality of display electrodes, the rear-side substrate on an inner surface. Striped light-blocking, electrically conductive films are disposed on an outer surface of the front-side substrate at locations between respective ones of the pairs of display electrodes and coupled at their opposite ends to respective points of a common reference potential in the X- and Y-electrode driver circuits, respectively, to provide a return path for alternate discharge current.

    摘要: A plasma display panel and method of producing same, in which projections are formed in grooves between partitions and phosphor layers are provided on the projections so as to increase the area where phosphor adheres and thereby to increase the luminance. A pair of substrates, opposed to each other, form a discharge space. Band-like partitions partitioning the discharge space are arranged on one of the back and front substrates. Wall-like projections, lower than the partitions but high enough to increase the area where phosphor layers are formed, are provided in the region where the discharge space is formed in the long grooves between the partitions or around the discharge space. Phosphor layers are formed in the grooves between the partitions including the wall-like projections.

    摘要: This invention provides a plasma tube array-type display device and a luminance correcting method realizing reduced variations in luminance values of a plasma tube array. A gradient of the luminance value in the longitudinal direction of one plasma tube is calculated on the basis of the obtained luminance value at a plurality of positions in the longitudinal direction of at least one plasma tube. A difference of the luminance value of each plasma tube obtained at the same relative position. On the basis of the gradient of the luminance value and the difference of the luminance value of each plasma tube at the same relative position, a correction luminance value in each discharge cell in the longitudinal direction of each of the plurality of plasma tubes is calculated.
